A Timeline Of Kate's Pregnancy 20 Pics Leading Up To Prince Louis' Birth

Monday, April 23rd, 2018 was a super special day. It was the day that another royal baby came into the world. Yup, Kate Middleton gave birth to her third child, a boy named Louis, and everyone went pretty wild hearing the news. Of course, that was to be expected since, after all, we're talking about Kate Middleton here. And everyone adores Kate Middleton. Ever since she started dating Prince William, she was a star (and a very stylish one at that).

Is there anything that we love more than a royal baby?! Maybe a royal pregnancy (because then we know that, of course, they're going to have the baby and we'll get to see super cute photos). According to People, Kate was out of the hospital only seven hours after she had her third baby. She was wearing a red dress with white around the neck area, which people are saying looked like something that Princess Diana wore right after she gave birth to Prince Harry, and looked happy and healthy.

Now that Baby Louis is here, let's take a look at the journey. Here is a timeline of Kate's pregnancy: 20 images leading up to Louis's birth! We definitely love this royal baby already!

20 October 10th, 2017-The First Public Appearance Since Announcing The Pregnancy

If we didn't know that Kate Middleton was expecting her third baby when this photo was taken, we might not have any idea. She had a very small baby bump in this photo which we can see more in the photo on the left since, of course, she's also holding her pocketbook in front of her stomach on the right.

It's no secret that Kate knows how to look good whether she's pregnant or not. It makes sense since she wasn't sitting at home during the nine months -- she was still out and about and attending fancy events with Prince William by her side. That's the life of a royal.

What's interesting is that Kate actually went to more events when she was pregnant with Prince Louis than she did when she was pregnant with Prince George or Princess Charlotte.

According to Town and Country magazine, she went to two times more of the events. When she was expecting Charlotte, she rested for two months thanks to her hyperemesis gravidarum, which she has had with all of her pregnancies, and with George, she took ten days off. It's no wonder that there are so many photographs of her fancy pregnancy style since she went to so many events.

19 October 16th, 2017-Rocking The Orla Kiely Dress

We can barely see Kate's baby bump from the photo on the left since it's not super visible in this beautiful light pink dress. But we can definitely see it from the photo on the right. This dress has a bit of a Jackie vibe to it, and for that reason, we can't help but think that it's incredibly stylish.

Kate's designer Emilia Wickstead was interviewed by Hello magazine and she talked about how she designs and her own sense of style. She said, "The inspiration [for the brand] is definitely old-world couture. As for design, I gravitate to traditional styles but mix it with an element of surprise. Whether it's a big sash bow in the back or an unexpected fabric, it all needs to work together. I love seeing a woman in a beautiful dress and pairing it with a light shoe that shows skin - I really believe in toe cleavage. The styling is what keeps a look fresh, youthful and fashion-forward." We can definitely see that inspiration in Kate's clothing. She also talked about going to an event: "I still feel very passionate about dressing for an occasion, it's part of my DNA… Dress codes can be confusing, especially around events like the races, but as a designer, I try to build my collections around events like that and help educate my customers to dress in a chic way."

    18 November 22nd, 2017-Ready For Action

We might not all know this, but Kate Middleton is actually a pretty sporty person, and sports have been important to her since she was a student.

When she was younger and attended boarding school, she played a number of sports: she played field hockey, tennis, swam, and also ran cross country.

She has also been photographed on the ski slopes or rowing, so it's clear that she has still retained her love of all things sporty and athletic. Kate and Prince William often go see tennis or polo.

As The Daily Mail wrote about Kate Middleton back in 2010, before she had her big royal wedding and her children "She is known to us as Prince William's devoted girlfriend - and is rarely seen away from his side. But in her schooldays, Kate Middleton was something of a superstar in her own right. For as these photos obtained by the Daily Mail show, the young Kate was a real golden girl - excelling at sport, drama and music."

Of course, now we see Kate as William's wife, mom to Charlotte, George, and Louis, and a very stylish woman, but she's also very into sports, so that's an important part of her life and personality.

    17 November 28th, 2017-Charity Working Mom

We love this maroon-colored dress that Kate is wearing in this photo.

Although Kate is photographed all the time and lives her life in the spotlight, she also seems to be a pretty private person since she doesn't give interviews very much. That's why people considered it a big deal when she was interviewed on ITV's The Queen at Ninety in March 2016. She talked about her kids and said, "It's very special having a new little girl… I feel very, very lucky that George has got a little sister. The Queen was really thrilled that it was a little girl, and I think as soon as we came back here to Kensington she was one of our first visitors here."

Kate also shared how supportive The Queen has been: "I think there is a real art to walkabouts. Everyone teases me in the family that I spend far too long chatting. So I think I've still got to learn a little bit more and to pick up a few more tips I suppose. She was very supportive. The fact she took the time to make sure that I was happy and looked after for that particular occasion, which probably in everything that she's doing is a very small element, it shows just how caring she is really. She's been very generous in not being forceful at all and in any of her views, but I feel she's been there, a gentle guidance really for me."

16 December 12th, 2017-Wearing Her Seraphine 'Marina' Maternity Coat For The Rugby Portobello Trust In London

Leave it to Kate Middleton to look super stylish while pregnant. We wouldn't expect anything else from her, but it's still worth noting that she was one fashionable expecting mama. She looked amazing in this coat, which just goes to show that none of us have any excuse to not look as fabulous and fashionable as possible everytime we leave the house. If Kate could look like this when pregnant with her third child, what reason do we have to wear sweats all the time?! (Oh, wait, because they're comfy? Yeah, that's true… )

When the third royal baby was announced, it's no secret that everyone, from fans to the media, got super excited and couldn't stop talking about it.

According to a story on 'The Cut', if William and Kate had a girl, they would have wanted to name her Mary and for a boy, Arthur or Albert was a top contender.

As it turns out, the baby's full name is Prince Louis Arthur Charles, so "Arthur" did get in there. The Cut also said that Kate wore this particular navy coat when she was expecting Charlotte. Hey, if something is super stylish, we're all for wearing it again (we definitely do).

15 January 10th, 2018-Wearing Seraphine In West London

Kate Middleton, naturally, looks beautiful in this flowery dress. As it turns out, she also was a fan of wearing this dress when she was expecting her baby girl Charlotte, and she wore it again while pregnant with Louis. She also wore a Hobbs coat which she had taken off before this photo was taken.

Kate is so stylish and so known for what she wears that there are bloggers who solely cover her. One blogger, Jane Barr, who has two blogs called Kate's Clothes and From Berkshire to Buckingham, was interviewed by Racked and said, "Kate's story is kind of the perfect fairy tale, especially for Americans. The common girl who grew up normal and then married a prince, that transformation is something we've all been raised with, like Cinderella stories, so it was ripe for popularity." She also talked about what she imagines life as a royal is like: "My opinion is there are perks of being a princess and there are drawbacks, and the perks are the clothes and the fame and the fortune and the travel and one of the drawbacks is you are going to be papped because you are a celebrity. The things that we saw with Diana don't happen today. They just don't."

    14 January 30th, 2018-High Neckline Goddess

Kate Middleton looks every bit a member of the royal family in this photo, so it's hard to remember that she wasn't always. After all, she was just a regular person before she met Prince William. She really does look like she was born to be a royal since she has such a lovely, graceful way about her.

The two met at St. Andrews, a university in Scotland, and their love story is super sweet. Prince William once said,

"When I first met Kate I knew there was something very special about her. I knew there was possibly something that I wanted to explore there. We ended up being friends for a while and that just sort of was a good foundation… "

"… Because I do generally believe now that being friends with one another is a massive advantage. And it just went from there." Of the fact that they briefly broke up in 2007, William said, "We were sort of both finding ourselves as such and being different characters and stuff, it was very much trying to find our own way and we were growing up, and so it was just sort of a bit of space and a bit of things like that and it worked out for the better."

13 January 31st, 2018-Kate And Will Take Sweden

Kate always looks very royal: proper, beautiful, graceful, and lovely. She is definitely like the late Princess Diana in that sense.

She looks great in this red and white checked coat in this photo. She is often photographed wearing a fancy and elegant coat, which makes us wonder just how many she owns. We bet it's a huge number (and we bet that we would love to get the chance to peek inside her closet… and it's a shame that we can't. Sigh).

When Prince William attended the Centrepoint Awards in February 2018, which were at Kensington Palace, he talked about getting ready for the third royal baby. He said, "Our third is due in April. I'm getting as much sleep as I can… Two is fine -- I don't know how I'm going to cope with three. I'm going to be permanently tired."

Well, we're pretty sure that William has figured how to sleep with a new baby in the house, or at least drink more coffee and some green juice to keep his energy levels up since, of course, baby Louis is here and has made them a family of five. And a very adorable family of five at that.

12 February 1st, 2018-A Wonderful White Dress For The Oslo Royal Palace Reception

Kate Middleton looks so pretty in this fancy white gown. She definitely dressed so well while pregnant with all of her children and didn't change her style at all.

As it turns out, Kate is not only always so elegant, but reporters who interview Kate and Prince William have to look that way, too. According to an official royal website,

"Journalists wishing to cover Royal engagements, whether in the United Kingdom or abroad, should comply with the dress code on formal occasions out of respect for the guests of The Queen, or any other member of the Royal Family… "

"… Smart attire for men includes the wearing of a jacket and tie, and for women a trouser or skirt suit. Those wearing jeans or trainers will not be admitted and casually dressed members of the media will be turned away."

If we were lucky enough to be interviewing members of the royal family, we're pretty sure that we would want to look our best, and jeans most likely wouldn't be on the top of our list when it came to possible outfit ideas. But it makes sense that there are official rules about this kind of thing.

11 February 18th, 2018-All Green At The BAFTAs

We don't typically see pregnant women wearing a fancy dress and walking a red carpet… well, we don't typically see non-famous (and non-royal) pregnant women doing that, either. We can dream, right?! We would definitely love the chance to wear fancy outfits on a regular basis, but that would mean having fancy places to wear those fancy clothes, and, well, that's not really on the table for us. So we ahve to live vicariously through celebrities… and through the royal family. (We're not complaining, though. We have royal fever 24/7 and enjoy following along with the members of the royal family, Kate Middleton in particular).

For Kate Middleton, her third pregnancy still involved a lot of public appearances (aka all of the things that make up her royal lifestyle, of course), so it wasn't strange to see her in this green gown. It was just business as usual and a typical day in the life. No doubt about it, she looked gorgeous in this dark green dress. If we don't look too closely at this picture, it's hard to even tell that she's pregnant, but upon closer inspection, yup, she's got a bit of a baby bump here for sure.

    10 February 21st, 2018-Green Dolce & Gabbana Coat For A Sutherland Visit

Here's a more candid snapshot of a pregnant Kate Middleton, embracing some color with this dark green coat.

There are many designers who have dressed Kate or who know that she wears their garments, and Jane Lewis, a designer was interviewed by Glamour magazine. She is a designer for the brand Goat and Kate has worn their coats. Lewis said,

"There's been an underlying belief that fashion had no place within the corporate environment and that it could diminish our credibility in some way. Fashion doesn't have to be frivolous… "

"… Style is innate in each of us, and it's what sets us apart from the generic. A working environment is as good a place as any to show off your personality." She also has talked about wearing color: "It can be empowering and feminine and is an excellent way to tap into a current trend. Mid colors like burgundy, fern green, and dark teal are what I call 'noncolors' that are good for people who may feel overwhelmed by strong brights."

It's interesting that it doesn't seem like Kate wears "maternity wear" when expecting. When we see a photo of her when she was pregnant, she seems to have worn what she would normally have.

9 February 27th, 2018-Beautiful In A Jenny Packham Coat And Jimmy Choo Heels

Here's another photo showing Kate Middleton in all her pregnancy perfection. Even though Kate Middleton and Prince William are often seen photographed together at public events looking sophisticated and, well, royal, it turns out that they live a fairly normal life at home.

A profile of Kate in Vanity Fair sheds light on their home life with some quotes from their friends and a description of how Kate spends her day, which includes grocery shopping and cooking. She loves to make jam and sausages. One friend of the royal couple said, "Some might say it's a little dull, but they love it. I saw William recently and he is so happy. They've grown out of clubbing and have no interest in parties. They just enjoy being together at home. No one bothers them in Anglesey, there are few paparazzi, and they love the countryside.” The article talks about how Prince William loves roast chicken so Kate makes it often for him for dinner, and a friend backed that up: "Kate was on the King's Road not so long ago carrying a shopping bag with a chicken in it that she was taking home to cook for William's supper. That's their idea of the perfect night.”

8 March 6th, 2018-The Royal Wave In A White JoJo Maman Bebe Coat

Royals are definitely known for their waving. It seems like every time we see a photo of a member of the royal family at a public event or even just out and about, they are waving at someone or a group of people.

It turns out that even Charlotte has figured out that the royal wave is a thing. As a story in Town and Country magazine said, "Princess Charlotte Is Already A Master Of The Royal Wave" and talked about how she waved at onlookers after Louis was born. Too cute. There are also photos of George waving and even one of Prince William waving back when he was a kid.

Of course we've always heard the expression "royal wave" but it really is a specific thing. It's not just a typical wave where you, you know, move your hand around. According to a royal expert from ABC News,

"You can recognize a royal wave immediately. It's a vertical hand with a slight twist from the wrist, a classy affair that oozes decorum but doesn't get too excitable… "

"… That particular style of wave is pretty much restricted to members of the royal family. It denotes class, elegance, restraint and character."

7 March 21st, 2018-Gearing Up For Maternity Leave

Kate Middleton looked beautiful in this green dress, and while we usually see her out and about with Prince William, in this photo she was alone.

It's always interesting to hear what body language experts have to say about a couple, and even more so when they talk about a celebrity couple. One such expert was interviewed by Express Co Uk and talked about how Kate has a very maternal way about her in an interview sitting beside Prince William: "Kate retains a much more adult demeanor and I believe that has been one of the great strengths of their relationship. In their recent appearance when Kate sat with William and Harry as they talked about their mother there was something very strong, maternal and supportive about her presence with Diana's two boys… “Despite the lack of touch between the two, you can see the love written all over William's facial expressions, from the rather coyly suppressed smiles to the way his features soften every time he throws a glance at Kate.”

Although we rarely, if ever, see PDA between Kate and William when they are photographed at events, we for sure can see the love and affection between the two of them.

    6 March 22nd, 2018-Last Public Appearance

This is yet another lovely and sophisticated look that Kate Middleton rocked while pregnant with baby Louis. It's no wonder she is considered to be a style maven by so many.

Many pregnant women would probably look at this outfit and think, "Okay, that looks a bit uncomfortable. What happened to wearing a cozy outfit like leggings and a sweater and flats or sneakers?" And, sure, that's probably what most expectant mothers wear during those nine months. But, of course, we have to remember that Kate Middleton is a member of the royal family and so that means a lot of public appearances and that means that she was living out her pregnancy while still in the spotlight. Hence the fancy black pants, black heels, patterned top, and chic beige coat.

"Kate was gearing up to go on maternity leave at this point, and she still managed to rock out with a pump that'll make any non-pregnant woman's feet hurt"

Most pregnant women would be happy to have Kate Middleton's wardrobe… and even women who aren't expecting a baby. Come on, she's almost way too chic. We're always excited to see photos of her most recent public appearance (or even just a snapshot of her out and about with Prince William). We always know that she's going to look good, and we can't wait to see what outfit she has chosen.

5 Introducing Prince Louis Arthur Charles

Here he is in all his sweet glory: Prince Louis. Can we deal with how cute he is? No? No, we definitely can't. Between his sweet little hands and his red face and his white outfit, he's too much. We already love him so much.

This adorable picture is an official photo that was taken of the third royal baby, and everyone was super excited to finally see him. Sure, a few snapshots were taken right after his birth, since Kate Middleton left the hospital only a few hours after giving birth to baby Louis, but we can see him much more clearly here.

Kensington Palace had an official, public statement about these official photos: "The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are very pleased to share two photographs of Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. The photographs were taken by The Duchess of Cambridge at Kensington Palace. The image of Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis was taken on 2nd May, her third birthday. The image of Prince Louis was taken on 26th April. Their Royal Highnesses would like to thank members of the public for all of the kind messages they have received following the birth of Prince Louis, and for Princess Charlotte's third birthday."

4 Kate Middleton Left The Hospital Only Hours After Giving Birth

When Kate Middleton gave birth to Prince Louis, people couldn't help but talk about some of the things that she was supposed to do (and the things that she did do, of course). Today's Parent wrote a story and talked about how she got a blow-out before leaving the hospital and wore heels.

Even though most new moms don't leave the hospital in heels and a fancy outfit and don't have their hair blown out, it's safe to say that most new moms aren't members of the royal family.

There are definitely certain rules and protocol that you have to follow, and always being camera ready and knowing that you are living life in the spotlight is just part of the whole thing.

Even if some people were confused about why Kate would have to look so perfect and so good right after giving birth, we know that everyone would agree that Prince Louis is one of the cutest babies ever. His little scrunched up face in this photo in particular is really adorable. Since Charlotte and George are also so cute, and since parents Kate Middleton and Prince William always look so put together, this is one sweet family that is honestly just so photogenic.

3 Everyone's Wondering If He'll Look More Like Kate Or William

Besides the fact that baby Louis was born just a few weeks ago and everyone is so excited that he is here, people are also talking about the fact that he's not going to be at the royal wedding, aka the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Of course, this is a highly anticipated event, and the fact that there is a royal baby and a royal wedding in spring 2018 is too amazing for us to handle. Anyone with royal fever is definitely happy right now (and that's totally all of us because royal fever is the best).

So why can't Louis go to the royal wedding? Well, it's literally because he's, you know, a baby. According to Harper's Bazaar, "The infant, who was born on April 13, will be just under four weeks old by the time of his uncle Prince Harry's nuptials. Though he's been out in public hours after he was born, baby Louis is way too young to be at such a big, bustling event as the royal wedding. It's normally recommended that parents wait until their child is six to eight weeks old before bringing them into crowded spaces, to give their immune systems time to strengthen."

2 Kate's Hospital Exit Outfit Was Inspired By Her Late-Mother-In-Law Princess Diana

April 23rd was a very exciting day. When Kate Middleton stepped out of the hospital hours after having her third baby, Louis, people realized that her red dress was a tribute to the late Princess Diana. Kate wore a red dress after having Prince Louis and Diana wore a red coat after having Prince William.

It's impossible not to love this photo of Kate and her new baby. His face is so adorable and his hands are so little. It's no wonder people are talking about the new royal baby so much and it's no wonder that we just can't seem to get enough of him.

Kate was also wearing earrings which she had borrowed from The Queen, so her outfit was truly royally inspired.

Kate is called Duchess of Cambridge, but as it turns out when she and Prince William registered Louis's birth, the piece of paper said she is a princess. It seems like that's simply because she's married to a prince, although, yes, she is called Duchess and not princess otherwise. No matter what she is called, one thing is for sure: she is always stylish, whether she's pregnant or not, and we couldn't be bigger fans.

1 Charlotte And Louis, The Sweetest Things

There isn't much that is cuter than a sleeping baby. It's impossible to look sweeter and more innocent than that. Okay, maybe this photo is sweeter than that, since it involves both a sleeping baby and his sister's love for him. Can we even handle this?! No, we don't think that we can.

Okay. Stop the presses. Let's talk about this. There is literally nothing sweeter than this photo of Prince Louis and Princess Charlotte kissing him on the top of his adorable little head.

As a Maire Claire headline reads, "Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis Already Share A Sweet Bond" and we can definitely tell from this photo. The story also quoted an Us Weekly story where an insider said, "Charlotte is really enjoying having a younger brother to play with. She's taking her big sister duties very seriously. She won't leave baby Louis' side… Charlotte is just like him. They have a great bond, and a similar connection is growing between Charlotte and Louis." We can see the love and affection that Charlotte has for her newborn baby brother in this photo and we're sure that we'll think the same as we see more photos in the future.
