22 Celebrity Feuds That Never Really Ended (& Why)

Jay-Z rapped that, “No one wins when the family feuds,” but what about celebrities, where the only blood between them is bad blood? With the rise of social media, celebs are able to promote themselves, give fans an inside look into their lives, connect with other stars and, yes, get into flame wars with other famous people.

After all, it's much easier to call someone out from the safety of your computer or phone screen, right?

Almost all of these feuds have taken place in the past decade, when social media played a major role in their beginning, but others have been simmering for much longer, as the product of hostile work environments, clashing egos or sordid tell-alls after the fact.

Some of these pairs began as friends and someone or something came between them to push them apart, Other times, they were coworkers who existed alongside one another, in it for a paycheck, whether they liked it or not. Then, there are the virtual strangers, the celebs who have almost no connection beyond an offhanded tweet.

Each feud has different beginnings, but the outcomes seem to be the same in that it would take a small miracle for the celebrities in question to ever be welcomed back to one another with open arms.

These 22 celebrity feuds may have cooled, but they haven't ever really ended, have they?

22 Will Smith VS Janet Hubert-Whitten

If you ever watched The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air growing up, you might have noticed that a couple of seasons in, Aunt Viv got a major makeover - in the form of a totally different actor! Janet Hubert-Whitten was replaced by actress Daphne Maxwell Reid on account of the long-simmering tensions between her and the show's star, Will Smith!

While the show ended in 1995, the feud between the two actors still seems to be going! In 2011, Hubert-Whitten informed TMZ that, in an age where everything is getting rebooted or holding reunions, she would never do anything with “an a*****e like Will Smith.”

21 Lea Michele VS Naya Rivera

TV shows may not be big enough for two major divas, since plenty of these feuds seem to come from the small screen! Case in point: Glee alumni Lea Michele and Naya Rivera.

In 2014, a source close to the show revealed to Us Weekly, “They're always icy to each other. Naya is jealous that Lea is the show's main star… There's a lot of sighing and eye-rolling between them.”

Rivera seemed to confirm as much in her memoir, Cosmopolitan reports, in which she described Lea as “a lot more sensitive” and someone who “blamed [her] for anything and everything that went wrong.”

20 Kendra Wilkinson VS Holly Madison

Sometimes, we're only friends with people for a short amount of time during a dramatic period in our lives. Once that period ends, we learn that we weren't as close as we thought. Take Playboy Playmates Kendra Wilkinson and Holly Madison. As girlfriends of the late Hugh Hefner, these two went through a lot, even earning their own reality show!

However, in 2015, when Madison published her explosive memoir Down the Rabbit Hole, she had less-than-kind things to say about her former BFF. In return, Wilkinson hit back with an equally low blow, as Cosmopolitan reports, detailing some pretty graphic claims about what Madison did in the Playboy mansion.

    19 Eminem VS Nick Cannon

We all know that Eminem has had loads of feuds in the past, and that he usually spits rhymes to call out the people he has beef with in true rapper fashion. One interesting person with whom he had a feud that was never resolved was Nick Cannon. And what were they arguing over? Why, a woman, of course!

In a 2009 track, Eminem rapped about wanting to get Mariah Carey (Cannon's then-wife) back, saying that she made a mistake choosing Cannon over him, as People reports. Cannon responded in a blog post, challenging Eminem to a fight for his disrespectful behaviour. (A fight that never came to be, naturally.) He also called Eminem "Slim Lamey."

18 Katherine Heigl VS Shonda Rhimes

The feud may have happened largely behind the scenes, but the ripples of this rift are still being felt today! When Grey's Anatomy first aired in 2005, Katherine Heigl quickly became a household name for her role of Dr. Izzie Stevens.

But, by 2008, Heigl had grown too big for her britches and publicly issued a statement withdrawing her name from Emmy consideration. To add insult to injury, she blamed the show's writing for her decision, as Cosmopolitan reports.

In retaliation, creator Shonda Rhimes wrote Heigl off the show and the actress's career hasn't been the same since, limited to B-movies, roles in straight-to-video releases and quickly cancelled TV shows.

17 Lady Gaga VS Perez Hilton

Way back in 2009, when Lady Gaga was just beginning to really storm up the charts and catch public attention thanks to her outlandish outfits and major pipes, she had a friend in tabloid junkie Perez Hilton. That is, until Hilton decided his career was worth more than their friendship.

As Cosmopolitan reports, in an interview with Howard Stern, Gaga claimed that Hilton had been asking her invasive questions and just behaving badly as a friend before claiming that Hilton was simply “bitter” and a “bully.” As a response, Hilton took to Twitter to mock the interview and call her a “vampire.”

16 George Clooney VS Russell Crowe

For two men in their 50s, you'd think that these two A-listers would know how to behave better! Apparently, Crowe started the whole thing, calling George Clooney a “sellout,” along with actors Robert De Niro and Harrison Ford. In an Esquire interview, Clooney poked fun at Crowe's musical pursuits, which is apparently what really irked Crowe, who called Clooney a “Frank Sinatra wannabe." Ooo, burn.

While Crowe did try to make peace later, Clooney was having none of it and rejected the apology (alongside a CD of the actor's music, of course).

15 Dwayne Johnson VS Vin Diesel

Another instance where the bros be brawlin'! Co-stars in the Fast and Furious franchise, Dwayne Johnson and Vin Diesel, made headlines in 2016 when rumours began to run rampant about the two of them not getting along while on set. One thing that seemed to lend credit to the rumours? Johnson's since-deleted Instagram post that talked about his “candy-a**” co-stars.

Rumours of the feud were dodged for a while until Johnson came clean this year, saying that the two disliked each other so much that they filmed their scenes together separately, as Rolling Stone reports.

    14 Rihanna VS Ciara

One quick peek at Rihanna's Instagram and Twitter activity will have you realize right away that it's best not to come at the singer unless you're looking to get burned! Unfortunately for fellow pop star Ciara, she didn't get the memo.

In a 2011 appearance on Fashion Police, Ciara described Rihanna as “not the nicest,” MTV reports, which caused Rihanna to clap back on social media with, “My bad ci, did I 4get to tip u?” Yikes! While Ciara could have let the feud go, in 2013 she doubled down on her remarks, describing the singer as “nuts right now," according to Business Insider.

13 Mariah Carey VS Nicki Minaj

This is the first instance where we have Nicki Minaj involved in a celebrity feud, but trust that it won't be the last!

During Season 12 of American Idol, both Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj were brought on as judges, alongside country singer Keith Urban, who was presumably hired to keep the peace between the two divas. (Someone should have paid this guy more!) They regularly snapped at each other, culminating in a profanity-laced outburst from Minaj who walked off the set, as People reports.

Carey later put on her passive-aggressive best in an interview with Barbara Walters in which she called the whole ordeal an “unsafe work environment," E Online states.

12 Nicki Minaj VS Miley Cyrus

Our second entry with Minaj on one side of the feud, this fight with singer Miley Cyrus happened in interviews and award shows of all places, giving us that iconic line, “Miley, what's good?”

Originally, Minaj spoke out about blonde, thin, white women being nominated for the MTV VMAs, while her video for “Anaconda” didn't. Cyrus, in a New York Times interview, described Minaj as being “not too kind” and “not very polite,” which is what caused Minaj to lash out during the live ceremony. Miley, carrying on with her hosting duties for the evening, tried to brush it off, but the feud hasn't been resolved since.

11 Gwyneth Paltrow VS Martha Stewart

It's two domestic goddesses going toe-to-toe in this round! But who will reign supreme?

Gwyneth Paltrow's GOOP website has long drawn disdain from critics who feel like the actress is out of touch, and, apparently, from Martha Stewart, who credits herself with starting this whole lifestyle website thing in the first place. Then, slyly, Stewart made a spread in her magazine called “Conscious Coupling,” ET Canada reports, which was related to the infamous phrase coined by Paltrow. The actress snapped back with a recipe for “Jailbird Cake.”

Later, in a 2017 interview, Stewart played dumb and asked, “Who's GOOP?” The Cut reports, before figuratively patting Paltrow on the head by calling her a “good girl.”

10 Mariah Carey VS Jennifer Lopez

Mariah Carey is back at it! Actually, this was the feud that gave us the memorable GIF “I don't know her.” Back in the early 2000s, Carey was asked about Jennifer Lopez, to which Carey responded the above now-iconic phrase.

Since then, both singer/actresses have been asked about whether they truly know one another, almost-ending in 2018 when Carey gave a kind of “sorry, not sorry” answer: “That was so long ago, I can't believe people still make such a big deal out of it," as The Independent reports.

By our count, this means these two won't be exchanging holiday cards anytime soon!

9 Katy Perry VS Taylor Swift

Who doesn't remember this one? This long-simmering feud has unfolded in true millennial fashion, with subtweets, music videos and offensive tracks.

As it goes, Katy Perry reportedly tried to sabotage Taylor Swift's “Red” tour by hiring a bunch of Swift's dancers. According to Perry, however, she was simply offering more cash!

Perry later referred to Swift as the “Regina George in sheep's clothing,” The Guardian reports, which prompted Swift to release the single “Bad Blood,” to which Perry retorted with a single of her own, “Swish Swish.” Aw, and these two seemed to be almost okay friends at one point!

8 Khloe Kardashian VS Amber Rose

Another feud that has unfolded on social media but has very real roots in real life, we have Khloe Kardashian versus Amber Rose.

Rose, as Blac Chyna's BFF, was understandably irritated by the fact that rapper Tyga (and Blac Chyna's ex) had taken up with the littlest of the clan, Kylie Jenner. In an interview with The Breakfast Club radio show, Rose called Jenner “a baby” and said that Tyga should be ashamed for leaving the mother of his child for her, Cosmopolitan reports.

Kardashian jumped to her sis's defense, saying that Jenner was plenty mature and not to worry about things that don't concern her. The feud was drawn out and full of derogatory remarks, but safe to say that relations between the two haven't warmed up since.

7 Kim Kardashian VS Chloë Grace Moretz

These Kardashians are a feisty bunch! This feud began when actress Chloë Grace Moretz took it upon herself to be a crusader for women and body positivity everywhere by calling out Kim Kardashian for posting nearly-nude photos. Kardashian took a page from Mariah Carey's book and essentially told her followers, “I don't know her.”

Moretz explained in an interview with Glamour that she stood by her comments and felt that Kardashian's skin-heavy Instagram feed wasn't appropriate for young women and that it wasn't linked to “body confidence."

6 Kim Kardashian VS Bette Midler

Would you look at that? It's Kim Kardashian again, for the exact same photo, but this time fighting with the legendary Bette Midler!

As Billboard reports, Midler tweeted, “If Kim wants us to see a part of her we've never seen, she's gonna have to swallow the camera.” Kim shot back a joke about Midler being “up past her bedtime” and then called her a “fake friend” for previously sending her a gift.

Midler never responded, so we can't declare a winner for this one, but we will say that a jab at a woman's age is a pretty low blow for what was a fairly funny joke!

5 Lauren Conrad VS Heidi Montag

This celebrity feud is an interesting one because we got to witness its demise almost every step of the way thanks to the semi-reality TV show The Hills. While we had been introduced to Lauren Conrad previously, courtesy of Laguna Beach, Heidi Montag was a newcomer and the two were BFFs until 2007, when Spencer Pratt came along and made up a rumour that Conrad had filmed an explicit video with her then-boyfriend. The friendship quickly fell apart as Montag stuck with Pratt and Conrad moved on to bigger and better things.

While Montag and Conrad have kept fairly quiet since the fallout, it's Pratt who won't let it rest, calling Conrad a “cold-hearted killer” as recently as 2015, Complex reports.

4 Paris Hilton VS Lindsay Lohan

Another boy split up this fabulous duo from the early 2000s - Paris Hilton's ex Stavros Niarchos, who also happened to get a little Lindsay Lohan action during the decade. Obviously a bad move and total violation of girl code, Hilton dropped Lohan and hasn't been shy about expressing her disdain for the fallen actress in the years since! (Lohan has similarly been rude about her former friend, calling her names on camera and making disparaging remarks about her adult video.)

In 2017, E Online reported that Hilton claimed Lohan crashed an outing with the heiress and Britney Spears, and a year later, stated that Lohan would not be invited to her upcoming nuptials (the couple have since broken up), even calling Lohan a “pathological liar,” W Magazine reports.

3 Taylor Swift VS Kanye West

Imma let you finish, but Taylor Swift and Kanye West had one of the best feuds of all time! What began as that infamous interruption during the 2009 VMAs has had a major ripple effect.

While the two appeared to make up, hugging it out at an awards show, West released a song and video in which he made rude marks about Swift and had a nude dummy of her in his bed. But wait! Apparently Swift was in on the whole thing, according to a taped conversation. Or was she?

The Daily Mail reports that Taylor was furious about it.

2 Kim Cattrall VS Sarah Jessica Parker

Another case of small-screen snarkiness, Kim Cattrall and Sarah Jessica Parker could put a lot of these duos to shame when it comes to celebrity feuds.

They managed to make it work through six seasons of Sex and the City and two movies, but when the opportunity for a third arose, Cattrall said, “No way.” Rumours flew that her demands are what caused the project to fall through, as Daily Mail reports, but Cattrall tweeted that that wasn't the case, and that she had never agreed to a third film to begin with!

Parker managed to get the other girls on her side against Cattrall, and posted an IG pic about Cattrall's recently deceased brother, prompting the actress to call out her former costar to stop once and for all.

1 Nicki Minaj VS Cardi B

The most recent feud to grace our list, this one is significant because of the fact that these ladies had a physical brawl, whereas most of the other feuds have been conducted behind the safety of computer screens or magazine pages.

The physical altercation took place this past September, which left Cardi B with a giant bump on her head and a need to air her grievances through her IG in which she called out Nicki Minaj for criticizing her parenting abilities. We don't see either of these fiery ladies backing down any time soon and, if the past has anything to teach us, we'll be getting some amazing songs out of it, too!
