15 Facts About Hollywood's Most Captivating Couple John Krasinski And Emily Blunt

Watching The Office, the chemistry between Jim Halpert (played by John Krasinski) and Pam Beesly (played by Jenna Fischer) is off the charts. As far as fictional couples go, they are consistently ranked among the top for #relationshipgoals. The only thing is, they are exactly that: fictional.

Fortunately for all of us hopeless romantics, John Krasinski is just as adorable in real life when it comes to his actual wife of almost eight years, Emily Blunt! The two have just starred together in Krasinski's film A Quiet Place, which has been rightfully earning rave reviews, and, despite the fact that almost no words are spoken, the chemistry and love between them are palpable.

And why wouldn't it be? These two are crazy about each other!

As parents to two daughters, husband and wife, and coworkers, you'd think these two would be sick of one another, but instead, they have given us serious #coupleenvy with their swoon-worthy interviews gushing about one another, love-struck photos on the red carpet, and hilarious and relatable antics off-screen and off-camera! We might not be able to go on double dates with the duo, but these 15 facts will get you a little more insight into one of the most beloved couples in Hollywood!

15 They Want A Big Family

Actors John Krasinski and Emily Blunt already have two children, daughters Hazel and Violet, but they're still looking to expand their brood. Coming from a large family herself, Blunt informed The Telegraph that she and Krasinski weren't done having kids, explaining,

“I'm from a big family and John is one of three so I think we definitely would have more.”

(Krasinski has two brothers, while Blunt is one of four children.)

In the same interview, Blunt referred to her husband as “the diaper king”, since both parents have made an effort to be incredibly hands-on in the raising of their kids - and keeping them out of the spotlight. With the amazing genes from both parents, we bet that any subsequent Blunt-Krasinski's will be absolutely adorable!

14 A Quiet Place Was Inspired By Their Second Child

    Speaking of kids, the critically- and commercially-successful film A Quiet Place that stars the couple was actually inspired by the birth of their second child, daughter Violet. Not exactly what you think of when you think of horror movies, is it? Krasinski, who directed, co-wrote, and starred in the film, stated that they had just welcomed their daughter to the world three weeks before he read the first draft of the script, and he stated;

“living with the terror of hoping to keep her safe, hoping to keep her alive. Was I a good enough man to be her father? All of those themes are in the movie. And so, in my rewrite, that's what I drilled down to even more.”

Since parenthood can be one of the scariest and more intimidating things a person faces, we'd say it's an apt metaphor!

13 Emily Was The Only Choice For A Quiet Place

In an excellent example of husband-wife teamwork, Blunt read through Krasinski's rewritten script and encouraged him to take the next step by seeing it come to life, via sitting in the director's chair. That wasn't enough for the couple's passion project, however, and, upon her final read-through, Blunt informed her husband that he couldn't let anyone but her play the role of Evelyn, the beleaguered mother in the film.

While some might think it was a bit controlling of her, Krasinski actually took it in an extremely positive way, saying that her excitement over the script and desire to star alongside him was '”the greatest compliment of my entire career.” And, after directing her, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Krasinski doubled down on his thought about his wife's performance, saying “no one else could have done the part.”

12 They're BFFs With Jimmy Kimmel

If you're a fan of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, you might have caught some of the shenanigans Blunt and Krasinski engaged in with the late-night host, since the couple used to live across from him!

Although they have since moved to the East Coast, when they were across the street from Kimmel and his wife Molly McNearney,

They spent chill evenings together at home and were spotted vacationing together - and also engaged in a pretty prolific holiday prank war!

A few highlights of their annual battle with one another include Jimmy gift-wrapping their entire house, John and Emily gift-wrapping Jimmy's car and filling it with Christmas ornaments, John hiding a real reindeer in Jimmy's bathroom, and finally, Jimmy dousing John is eggnog on his show! With friends like these, right?

11 They Go On Dates Once A Week

As a couple with two kids and hectic work schedules, it can be all too easy to let the romance within their marriage fall by the wayside. Fortunately, proving that they're our favorite celebrity couple, Krasinski and Blunt make an effort to go out on dates with one another about once every week. Yep, they have a date night!

Says Krasinski, “But at the end of the day, it's important to preserve your relationship. It's really fun because I have an amazing wife who will also go out on dates with me. We do one date a week at least where it's just us. Just go to dinner and talk, it's really easy. We don't need much. We just go to dinner and talk and have no baby talk.” Knowing that much of their time is taken up by their roles as Mom and Dad, it's sweet to see them make an effort to also be Husband and Wife.

10 John Is Emily's Biggest Fan

In an ideal relationship, you want your partner to be your biggest cheerleader. Well, in the case of Emily Blunt and John Krasinski, the latter was also the former's biggest fan!

Before actually meeting Blunt, Krasinski admitted that he had watched her film The Devil Wears Prada multiple times.

On top of that, the first time she came over, he even had a magazine lying around with a picture of her on the cover!

In an interview with Playboy, the actor explained that he had a copy of Vanity Fair lying around with young Hollywood up-and-comers on the front page - including Emily! Another, just a few weeks into their relationship, she dropped by unexpectedly - when he was watching The Devil Wears Prada! It took a year of dating before Krasinski finally admitted his obsession to Blunt, which included watching the movie about 75 times!

9 Emily Saw John's Play Multiple Times

It's not one-sided in this relationship, however! Just as John was fangirling over Emily before they were serious (and even after), Emily was just as much of a fan of her husband.

In 2016, Krasinski was featured in the off-Broadway play Dry Powder and during its six-week run, his wife showed up to see it no less than four times! Jokingly calling her gesture “very wifely” in an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, she went on to explain that, in her second viewing, she caught Krasinski with a bit of a wardrobe malfunction happening and had to refrain from running onto the stage to help him out! A couple that supports each other and isn't afraid to gush - or tells embarrassing stories in public? No wonder they're so beloved!

8 They Tied The Knot At George Clooney's Place

It pays to have friends in high places, and when you're an A-lister like these two, one of those friends happens to be George Clooney! The Oscar winner offered the loved-up couple his private Lake Como estate in Italy for their 2010 nuptials and, because these are two sensible stars, naturally they took him up on his generosity!

The private outdoor ceremony was a ritzy affair, with a star-studded guest list that included people like Meryl Streep and Matt Damon.

The bride wore a draped chiffon Marchesa gown while the groom wore a suit and tie. Since using Clooney's private retreat as the site of their wedding, the couple also joined him when the actor-director wed his own bride, human rights attorney Amal Alamuddin, and have gone vacationing together as a foursome!

7 They Swam With Sharks On Their Honeymoon

Back when we knew him first in The Office, John Krasinski probably didn't strike too many viewers as a daredevil. Emily Blunt, on the other hand, seemed a bit more of a risk-taker, thanks to action-packed roles in films like Looper and Edge of Tomorrow. Perhaps it was his wife's direction that talked Krasinski into engaging in something a little more adrenaline-pumping for their honeymoon: swimming with sharks!

During a scuba diving lesson, they were greeted by grey reef sharks, which swam very close to the newlyweds. When one seemed to be heading towards his wife, Krasinski “let it ride” and, of course, the shark swam away. Fortunately, a more comforting sea creature soon followed: a sea turtle, who put his arm around the actress and began patting her head!

6 Emily Says Marriage As A “Blast”

After less than a year of dating, the couple became engaged - something that started the waterworks for both parties, according to John's interview with Access Hollywood! Years later, both of them can't stop gushing about one another!

Back in 2012, in an interview with Modern Day Manhattan, Blunt described their marriage as “a [huge] blast”, which is exactly the attitude you want to have when you've pledged to live your life with someone!

For Blunt, she says it's “difficult” to sum up her marriage in interviews because it's “something that's so vital and means everything to you”,

which makes it difficult o put into a quippy remark. Describing her life with Krasinski as “so great”, she's making us envious and happy for her at the same time!

5 Regular People Can't Believe John Nabbed Emily

You know you've really scored big when regular people simply can't believe that you're married to that person you're with. That was the case for John Krasinski, who has his fair share of female fans thanks to his nine-season run as the adorable Jim Halpert on The Office, but he didn't find a fan in an airport customs officer!

In an interview on The Tonight Show this month, Krasinski detailed his experience with the surly agent in London, who first questioned the actor's credentials - and he wasn't too pleased with the American actor's remake of the British hit show! Then, after asking Krasinski who he was visiting - and learning that Emily Blunt was his wife - that seemed to be the final straw for the customs officer, who couldn't believe he'd nabbed the Brit beauty, and simply waved him through!

4 Their First Date Was Less Than Conventional

Normal people often choose easy ways to get to know one another for a first date: coffee, drinks at a bar, dinner, a movie - but for John and Emily, they had theirs at a gun range The unorthodox choice was what John and Emily opted for their very first date! In an interview with Conan O'Brien,

John admitted that he was so sure that they wouldn't end up together that he went all in and picked something crazy for them to do together because then he could have something else to blame if things went poorly.

While other people might not be as into shooting at a gun range as a getting-to-know-you scenario, Emily - who has aimed and fired in flicks like Sicario (pictured), Looper, and Edge of Tomorrow - took it all in stride and seemed charmed by the idea, since they're still going strong!

3 People Thought They'd Break Up After Working Together

When you spend a lot of time together as a couple, it can go one of two ways: Either you get sick of each other and need time apart or you grow closer due to conquering the same problems and supporting one another. Fortunately for John and Emily, it was the latter, even though almost everyone around them warned them that working together would prove catastrophic to their marriage.

Speaking to Vanity Fair, Blunt explained that she was initially worried that they might kill each other in the process of filming A Quiet Place, and Krasinski echoed her statements to People, saying that he “never loved [his] wife more than after we did this movie” and explaining that the success of working together all came down to trust and communication - just like a marriage!

2 It Was Love At First Sight

We're suckers for romance, and it seems that so is John Krasinski! During the height of his Office fame in 2010, the actor told Ellen DeGeneres that he wasn't looking for anything serious when he met his future wife, but he fell for her right away! Explained Krasinski,

“Then I met her and I was so nervous. I was like, 'Oh my God, I think I'm going to fall in love with her!' As I shook her hand, I was like, 'I like you.'”

When talking to Seth Meyers, Blunt detailed that they actually met serendipitously when she was out with a mutual friend for dinner, who then waved the actor over for the two to finally meet! Saying that he made her laugh upon their first meeting, she delved a bit deeper, saying that she kind of knew right away that he was the one for her!

1 He Calls Their Marriage His Greatest Achievement

We know that these two are absolutely adorable together and aren't afraid to show it, but, aside from currently being in the public eye thanks to their collaboration with A Quiet Place, they've been able to keep a relatively low profile when it comes to Hollywood celebrity power couples.

The pair will be married for eight years this July, and Krasinski - who is a successful writer, actor, director, and producer - isn't afraid to say that his marriage to Blunt is his “greatest achievement”. It's clear that Krasinski thanks his lucky stars every day he wakes up next to Blunt, and we love that the feeling goes both ways, with husband and wife remarking on how wonderful the other is. Jim Halpert may be a fictional person, but John Krasinski is very real - and Emily got him!
