Real Housewife To Restauranteur 25 Things To Know About the Cast of Vanderpump Rules
Since 2013, the cast of Vanderpump Rules has been stealing fans' hearts. With fearless leader Lisa Vanderpump, this Bravo show follows the trials and tribulations of the SUR staff. What started out with just seven cast members (plus Lisa) has now grown into the amazingly diverse cast they have today.
The season regulars consist of Lala Kent, Stassi Schroeder, Jax Taylor, Brittany Cartwright, Tom Sandoval, Ariana Madix, James Kennedy, Scheana Marie, Tom Schwartz, Katie Maloney-Schwartz, and Kristen Doute. Over the past few seasons, fans have seen them go through heartbreaks, marriages, being fired, and fighting with each other only to make up a few episodes later.
So what's with the world's obsession with Vanderpump Rules? Not only is Chrissy Teigen a big fan of Vanderpump, so are famous celebrities like Jennifer Lawrence, Selena Gomez, Lady Gaga, and Liam Hemsworth. Although, J-Law is the reason that Liam Hemsworth loves the show so much.
This show captivates fans, and there is no sign that it's going anywhere any time soon. That means there's plenty of entertainment to go around for new and old fans alike. Here are a few interesting facts about the Vanderpump cast and what fans can expect from this entertaining show that will become their new low-key obsession.
25 Scheana Marie Got Married And Then Publicly Divorced On The Show
Scheana Marie is the ultimate romantic. When we were introduced to her on season 1, where she had a long-term boyfriend, Mike Shay (whose friends all called him Shay).
Whether you loved her or weren't necessarily a fan, it was easy to see that Scheana was a lot like all of us in search for our own happy endings.
In season 2, we all cried when she got engaged. In season 3, we watched as she planned her perfect wedding and got married. Ultimately, though, it was a sad end when Scheana and Shay announced on the reunion episode of season 5 that they were getting divorced.
24 Other Than Lisa Vanderpump, Tom Schwartz And Katie Maloney-Schwartz Are The Only Married Cast Members
Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney-Schwartz are the only original couple from the very first season of Vanderpump Rules to still be together. That's no easy feat when they've gone through everything from angry fights to stern ultimatums. Their happily-ever-after after did come when the couple finally tied the knot at the end of season 5 (yes the same season castmate Scheana announced she was getting divorced). The interesting part about their wedding is that all of the female cast members (except Lala) were Katie's bridesmaids, with the exception of Ariana Madix, who was instead a groomsman alongside her boyfriend Tom Sandoval.
23 Jax Taylor And Brittany Cartwright Are Engaged Though
Wow, I don't think anyone saw this engagement coming! After season 6 premiered, we quickly found out that Jax Taylor was stepping out on his girlfriend of two years, Brittany Cartwright, with ex-Vanderpump Rules cast member and SUR server Faith Stowers. Faith even went on to record their conversations as evidence, which she then showed Brittany.
In the end, the couple worked on their issues and now are planning a wedding for the near future.
All of the castmates are excited for the two of them and threw them an engagement party that will be featured on this upcoming season.
22 Speaking of Engagements, Lala Kent Also Got Engaged This Summer
Lala Kent has to be the most interesting cast member of Vanderpump Rules. She came in blazing as the feisty hostess who caught both James Kennedy and Jax Taylor's eyes in season 4. Not only that, she was disliked by most of the girls at different times but now has seemingly patched up all of her relationships. And one of the most interesting things about Lala is that she actually likes to drink out of a baby bottle before going to bed… The biggest issue with Lala from the other women castmates was the fact that she kept her relationship with Randall Emmett on the down-low. Well, the cat's out of the bag now and the two are also getting married in the near future.
21 The Cast Doesn't Actually Work At The Restaurant Full Time
When the show started, all of the cast worked full time at Vanderpump Rules. Now that most of the stars of the reality show have different ventures they rarely work full time at the restaurant.
It was said that all of the staff must be working at SUR in order to be on the show BUT that is obviously untrue in the recent seasons.
Both series regulars Stassi Schroeder and Kristen Doute don't work at SUR at all anymore, with the rest of the cast working there part-part time. Due to the show's success, many of the cast members have found other opportunities along their professional paths.
20 Podcast Celebrities: Stassi Schroeder And Scheana Marie Both Have Their Own Podcasts
Not only are Stassi Schroeder and Scheana Shay stars of Vanderpump Rules, but both also have successful podcasts. “Straight Up With Stassi” is described by her website as “a biting and hilarious look at the world and everyone in it, according to the Queen Bee herself.” While Scheana Shay has her own podcast called Scheananigans. According to her website, “from conversations with celebrity and industry guests, juicy stories from her time on the show and her life in Vegas; it's a part only Scheana Shay could throw. It's downright Scheananigans.” Both podcasts air episodes weekly.
19 Scheana Marie Spent Last Summer In Las Vegas To Headline Her Own Show
After the season six reunion, we learned that Scheana Shay was once again single after splitting with her boyfriend Rob Parks-Valletta. Scheana, in true Scheana-style, didn't let the break up keep her down and headed to Vegas to star in a show at the Paris Las Vegas Hotel.
Scheana starred in an interactive production alongside Chester Lockhart of MTV fame.
At the time Scheana said in an interview that, “There will be a little bit of Scheana sass in it, in a professional way, because I am playing a senior teaching fellow so I'm not Scheana from West Hollywood.” Scheana inherited the role from another reality TV show star, Kendra Wilkinson.
18 Kristen Doute Has Her Own T-Shirt Line Called James Mae
Kristen Doute is known for being one of the most controversial cast members on Vanderpump Rules, but the star is focusing her attention on her relaunched t-shirt line. Originally launched in 2014, Kristen has revived the line and has been designing and promoting the newest pieces that have been added. One of the biggest questions she faces is whether or not she named her line after her ex-boyfriend, fellow cast member James Kennedy. Kristen said in an interview with People Magazine, “No, it's not about DJ James Kennedy. The line I named at the two most important people in my life, other than my mother, which are my niece and nephew.“ Kristen's line is now available online.
17 Katie Maloney-Schwartz Owns Her Own Beauty And Lifestyle Website Called Pucker And Pout
Pucker and Pout is Katie Maloney-Schwartz's baby. Created in 2013, Katie and her co-founder, Jennifer Hoffner, partnered to launch the lifestyle blog.
The blog focuses on giving women tips and tricks when it comes to beauty and offers them out-of-the-box advice for achieving looks.
From her website, Katie says Pucker and Pout “is an organically curated world of beauty for the everyday girl. A blog that not only encompasses beauty on the outside but the beauty that comes from the inside as well.” Pucker and Pout is all of the things Katie described and more. It's a great place if you're looking for tips to ramp up your beauty routine.
16 Lala Kent Has Her Own Makeup Line Called Give Them Lala Beauty
Lala Kent keeps herself busy. From starring in Vanderpump Rules to landing a leading role in the horror flick The Row, Lala also has her own beauty line (and there's talk of her dabbling in fashion in the near future!). Give Them Lala Beauty focuses on the staples in every girl's makeup kits; eyeliner, lip-gloss, highlighter, and lipsticks. Don't expect Lala to just be the face of the line though; she stated in an interview with Stylish that the process of developing the line was hands on. “All of the colors, I picked them and they're colors I actually wear,” she told Stylish. “I have a top notch chemist that I worked with. I've had all hands and feet in everything, from the photos, to picking the colors, to the packaging, all of it.”
15 James Kennedy's God Father Was George Michael
James Kennedy grew up around pop royalty. James' father was the road manager for George Michael.
James said that George Michael was his godfather and recalled what it was like to grow up around the singer in an interview with The Daily Dish shortly after George Michael's unexpected passing.
"You know, he was just Uncle George, really," he recalled. "He didn't really give me advice. I was very young. I wasn't into music yet. I was like a baby. He was just Uncle George and [he'd] pop me on his lap and stuff like that. I knew he was a singer like, 'Uncle George is a singer.'" Sadly, James said he was planning to reconnect with his godfather, but the singer passed away before that could happen.
14 A Lot Of The Staff Have Dated Each Other
When the show started, it was focused on three couples; Stassi Schroeder and boyfriend Jax Taylor, Tom Sandoval and girlfriend Kristen Doute, and Katie Maloney (now Maloney-Schwartz) and Tom Schwartz. Sadly though, Stassi and Jax didn't make it past the first season (although there were a few backslides) and Kristen and Tom Sandoval didn't make it past the second season. After the demise of both relationships, a lot of drama ensued when Kristen Doute started dating James Kennedy and also admitted to seeing Jax when he was still with Stassi. Sandoval also started dating Ariana Madix, much to Kristen's chagrin. Jax also has had a brief relationship with Lala Kent and is now engaged to castmate Brittany Cartwright.
13 Ariana Madix Is A Gifted Equestrian
It's clear that Lisa Vanderpump is an avid animal lover and it seems she's found a kindred spirit in Ariana Madix. Not only does Ariana have two rescue pets (a cat and a dog), she also shares Lisa's love of horses.
While Tom Sandoval is Ariana's one true love, it's pretty obvious too that she loves her horse, oftentimes referring to him as her boyfriend in her IG photos.
Recently, Ariana has taken a break from her dreams of being a successful comedian and has started showing again in different equestrian competitions. She won a blue ribbon not too long ago. Ariana has stated in the show that when she was a kid, horses were her only friends.
12 Tom Sandoval Made One Music Video With His Band Charles McMansion
Tom Sandoval spent all of season 4 talking about his music video with his band Charles McMansion. His band was really just him and his friend Isaac Kappy. Judging from their website, which only features the music video for T.I.P. that Tom was gearing up for all of season 4, it seems as though Charles McMansion is on an indefinite hiatus. While getting reading to film the T.I.P. music video, Tom asked his girlfriend Ariana Madix, Lala Kent, and former SUR server Faith Stowers to star in the video. It's pretty perfect that Ariana stars in the video because Tom has said that he wrote it about her.
11 Vanderpump Rules Was Nominated For Their First People's Choice Award
It's safe to say that the world (and celebrities!) love Vanderpump Rules, so it's not surprising that they were nominated this year for a People's Choice Award. In order to win, nominees have to convince their fanbase to vote for them as much as possible so they have the majority of votes.
The Vanderpump cast took to social media to encourage their followers to vote for them as often as they could.
Vanderpump Rules went up against some tough competition, facing off against shows like Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, and Chrisley Knows Best. Ultimately, Keeping Up With The Kardashians won. The cast of Vanderpump had no hard feelings and said they all had a blast at the award show.
10 Stassi Schroeder, Kristen Doute, And Katie Maloney-Schwartz Call Themselves The Witches Of WeHo
While it's unclear where exactly the name Witches of WeHo originally came from, Stassi Schroeder, Kristen Doute, and Katie Maloney-Schwartz wear the title with pride. Three of four of the original women cast members of Vanderpump Rules have been friends for longer than the show has been on. While there was a bump in the road, Stassi cut off contact with Kristen when she found out she and Jax had dated, and when Stassi decided Katie wasn't a loyal friend, they worked out their issues and are better than ever. Katie and Stassi even made up before Katie's wedding and Stassi was able to be apart of the bridal party. The witches of WeHo now have their newest venture together in wine that will be released in February.
9 Kristen Doute Was The Villain Of The Show In The Early Seasons
Kristen Doute was labeled the villain of Vanderpump Rules after season 1. There were a lot of holes in her stories and the main one focused on whether or not she had a relationship with Jax Taylor.
Not only that, but Kristen was also extremely mean to her boyfriend of five years, Tom Sandoval, and often created drama surrounding his seeming friendship with Ariana Madix.
While neither Tom or Kristen were the best at being faithful, Kristen's questionable behavior with his best friend was the last straw for Tom. Kristen and her then-boyfriend James Kennedy also managed to ostracise themselves from the group, too.
8 Stassi Schroeder Wasn't A Part Of Season 4 Until The End
At the end of season three, we saw Stassi Schroeder make sweeping comments about not really caring to be apart of the show anymore. Not only that, but Lisa Vanderpump felt particularly betrayed by Stassi because she helped her out of a tight situation with an ex-boyfriend of Stassi's. Stassi left for New York to live with her boyfriend and was not a part of season four until many episodes in. Not only that, Stassi showed up trying to make amends for all of the hurt and drama she caused. She specifically wanted to make amends with Katie Maloney-Schwartz after finding out that Katie and Tom Schwartz were officially engaged.
7 Kristen Doute Was Fired Multiple Times By Lisa Vanderpump… And So Was James Kennedy
Lisa Vanderpump is not a woman you mess with, especially if you're messing with her livelihood.
Kristen Doute was known for causing trouble at the restaurant and was put on unpaid leave multiple times because of her actions.
Lisa finally had enough of her when Kristen was rude to the manager and brought other people into Tom and Ariana's business. Not only was Kristen a big issue for Lisa, but James Kennedy also has been fired by Lisa multiple times for drinking and getting into altercations while on shift. But as far as we know right now, James still works for Lisa after being rehired as a DJ.
6 James Kennedy Has Now Taken Over As The Villain On Vanderpump Rules
James Kennedy has never shied away from the spotlight. Since his arrival on Vanderpump Rules as Kristen Doute's boyfriend, he has made waves. In the first few episodes, James was repeatedly getting into fights with Kristen's ex-boyfriend and starting rumors about the other cast members. After bad behavior with Kristen multiple times, she breaks up with him. He then sets his sights on dating Lala Kent who at the time was the newest hostess at SUR. When she rejects his advances he gets mean and then also starts rumors about her. He has also gotten into fights with Katie Maloney-Schwartz, Tom Schwartz, Stassi Schroeder and even physical altercations with Jax Taylor. Going into season 7, it is reported that none of the other castmates other than Tom Sandoval and Ariana Madix talk to him.
5 There Was A Vanderpump-Summer House Crossover
Bravo is known for their reality TV shows, especially The Real Housewives franchise. So it's not surprising that there was a Summer House and Vanderpump Rules crossover. Summer House features different successful people from New York who summer in Montauk.
Stassi Schroeder met Ashley and Lauren Wirkus when she was living in New York and the sisters just happen to now star in the reality show.
In the episode, Stassi is single for the first time in forever and she hits it off with Kyle Cooke. Ultimately though, Stassi and the other Vanderpump Rules women go back to LA and Stassi doesn't match up with Kyle like we were led to believe.
4 Tom Sandoval And Tom Schwartz Opened A Restaurant This Year With Lisa Vanderpump Called Tom-Tom
Lisa Vanderpump at the end of Season 5 made a proposal to Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz to let them be the faces and junior partners of her new restaurant. They decided to name the restaurant Tom-Tom after the two Toms. This restaurant is Lisa and her husband Ken Todd's fourth restaurant in West Hollywood following Villa Blanca, SUR, and PUMP. Lisa decided to give the two Toms a chance to invest in a business as she knew they were looking for more of a stepping stone into a stable job path. Lisa said she saw the two of them maturing and wanted to give them an opportunity to become partners.
3 Lisa Vanderpump Rose To Fame On The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills
Lisa Vanderpump is no stranger to the camera. While Lisa and her husband Ken Todd are successful restauranteurs and bar owners, they also have been starring on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills since its inception in 2010.
Lisa is one of the more heavily featured housewives and was friends with most of the ladies.
Lisa has even had SUR restaurant featured on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Some of the Vanderpump Rules stars have been seen on Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, most notably Scheana Shay, who dated Eddie Cibrian, whose ex-wife Brandi Glanville was on the show.
2 Most Of The Cast Are Actors, Models, Or Musicians
While all of the cast have worked at SUR, most of them have ambitions outside of the restaurant. Tom Schwartz is a successful model and has been featured most recently in the James Mae campaign, the t-shirt line owned by Kristen Doute. Stassi Schroeder has just become a published author with her first book called Next Level Basic due to be out in April 2019. Scheana Shay and Lala Kent both love to sing and have been working on launching their singing professions. Jax Taylor was a model in his early years and that's how he met Tom Sandoval who's also a model alongside his musical talents. This cast is clearly talented and all of them have found successes outside of their serving positions.
