Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi and Jennifer "JWoww" Farley were known to be party girls to the core, so it was hard for fans to imagine them being sensible mothers. But that's the magic of motherhood. 18 JWoww Prefers Long Road Trips With Kids
In a YouTube interview with Snooki called “Would You Rather?” JWoww was asked if she preferred taking a short flight or a long road trip with her kids to reach their destination. I'm sure most parents would opt for the flight option than endure long hours with kids in a confined space. JWoww surprisingly opted for the long road trip option. Well, the truth is, it's not that she particularly looks forward to the car trips.
JWoww confessed that her children are not good on flights. For moms who have to endure long car trips, it wise to carry some plastic bags in case the kids get car sick. Carry adequate snacks and look up plenty of "car games" on the Internet to keep them occupied.
An easy game is to have them count the number of trucks/buses that pass. If there are plenty of them, then be more specific like red trucks. The one who spots the most is the winner. This will keep them occupied for half an hour at least.
17 JWoww Reveals Why They Don't Want Their Kids On Reality TV!
In an interview with ET, Snooki and JWoww talked about not wanting to raise their kids on a reality show. Snooki revealed that she didn't want her kids to get used to having a camera in their face. JWwow told ET,
"I just want my daughter to have a normal life. I want her to pick and choose the routes that she really wants to go. I'd like to see her save for a college education because I would hope that one day she would just love to go to college and be a normal girl."
They both felt that children growing up on reality TV shows or being exposed to cameras turn out differently than children who have normal lives.
Former child star Mara Wilson who starred in the 1993 film, Mrs. Doubtfire and Matilda (1998) wrote an article titled 7 Reasons Child Stars Go Crazy (An Insider's Perspective) in which she revealed that parents are a big reason why young celebrities become unhinged. "Kids whose parents pushed them into acting often grow up to resent them," she said. Medicalbag.com confirms that the effects of fame can be detrimental to anyone's health, let alone a child who has been in the public eye practically since birth. It's clear that Snooki and JWoww are being sensible and responsible moms when they make the decision to keep their children away from the camera as much as possible.
16 Snooki's Take On Handling Newborn Babies
"Don't crush your baby with your huge hands. Your baby's head is soft and squishy and basically a bobblehead so hold them with care," Snooki's said fondly as she remembered how it felt to hold her little baby.
Experts do agree with her on this one. There are many people who think newborns are born picture perfect with pretty little round heads. The truth is that a newborn's head shape may more closely resemble a cone than a nice round ball as the soft bony plates of the baby's skull compress and overlap to fit through the narrow birth canal. Don't worry about this though, the head shape usually rounds out during the next few weeks.
15 JWoww: On Dealing With Mom Guilt
In an interview with the People, JWoww was asked how she deals with mom guilt. "Drinking helps" she joked back. No matter how much we do, moms always feel they could have done better. Guilt is part and parcel of motherhood. But we need to be strong overcoming it as we all do the best we can, given our circumstances.
No matter what you do, they will be judgemental people who question your mothering skills. For a reality TV star like JWoww, there will be more people throwing stones at her every parental decision. A working mom has to make some tough decisions when it comes to looking after kids. According to the Refinery29, JWoww used to leave her husband in charge of the kids with details of what he needs to do, while she was away filming the Family Vacation TV series.
14 JWoww's Unique Sleeping Tips
What's your bedtime routine? Tuck your kids into bed, read them a bedtime story and finally when they are asleep, tiptoe out of there with a sigh of relief? Then here's something new for you to try!
In her Celebri-tea feature on Page Six, JWoww says gives a strange tip for getting children to bed.
“Do what I do. I fall asleep before them. So, I have two children, I co-sleep and sometimes, it gets too much. I'll lock the door, make sure everyone's safe and let them have at it. I'll wake up in the morning, one's sleeping on the floor, one's sleeping at the end of the bed. It works.”
Now that may seem like unusual advice, but many of us are guilty of doing the same at times, even if it may be unknowingly. There have been times I dozed off while exhausted and my kids eventually slept off on their own, sprawled out at odd angles in the oddest places. But all said and done, no harm was done. So moms, do yourself a favor, lock the door, ensure there are potentially dangerous stuff around for them to tinker with and just go to sleep if you need to. Brave of Jwoww to speak up when this kind of advice usually has those judgemental moms up in arms.
13 Snooki Cherishes Every Moment
Snooki clearly loves being a mother and loves doling out parental advice. But she also has no hesitations in making it clear that there are some things she dislikes about being a parent. So what's that? Sleepless nights? Changing diapers? Check out one her tweets to see what she thinks of having to wake at night because of the baby:
"I absolutely love being a mother to two kids! Haven't gotten a wink of sleep taking care of and staring at my daughter,” Snooki tweeted.
Now, that's something most moms complain about, but not Snooki. Babies grow up so fast that you'll miss out enjoying those special moments if you focus on the negatives. Babyhood is one of the most adorable stages of a child growing up. Your child will be all grown up and out before you know it. So make sure to cherish every moment of it.
12 JWoww Likes Spending Weekends Watching Kid Movies
JWoww does seem like a reformed party girl. Though she gives importance to maintaining her identity and socializing, she prefers to spend time with her kids, instead of partying. According to the E, JWoww said,
"Your kids will always come first, and I actually don't like going out. I'd rather spend my Friday and Saturday nights with my children, watching Rapunzel or Tangled."
This is indeed one mom who understands the simple joy of snuggling up with your kids and enjoying their delight as they watch their favorite Disney characters on screen. Your children derive comfort and security from your presence and touch. They love having their parents to share their excitement with. Bonding with your child when they are young and impressionable help you deal with them better as they struggle through their teen years and finally become sensible and responsible adults who are an asset to the society.
11 JWoww Enjoys Being A Mom
JWoww makes it clear that she enjoyed being single, but she definitely wouldn't trade even a day of her current life as the mother of her daughter, Meilani, and son, Greyson. She told the Parents.com that it is hard to even remember what life before her kids was even like.
"It just felt so natural and so right, I would never want the life I had before. I enjoyed it, but being a parent is so rewarding every single day,” she told them.
JWoww does know firsthand about the fears of motherhood that can leave you feeling drained. "I was so paranoid [about] SIDS that I probably lost the first six months because I wasn't sleeping,” she told Parents.com. She now advises other moms not to overstress about motherhood and just try to enjoy being a mom.
10 Snooki: She Enjoys Changing Diapers
Another unusual thing Snooki seems to love about parenting seems to be "changing diapers." According to Wetpaint.com, there was a Reddit rumor Snooki had said that she won't be changing her child's diapers because “that's what maids are for.”
But Snooki's fans were quick to come to her defence and later it became clear that she did not make that statement. Just a couple of days after her son Lorenzo was born, Snooki tweeted, “I'm legit an old lady. Rocking the diapers with that old lady gangsta lean.” That does indeed sound like a hands-on mom who embraces all aspects of motherhood with undiluted enthusiasm.
9 Snooki Is Against Too Much Screen Time
In her feedback for BuzzFeed's Ultimate Parenting Survey, Snooki made it clear that she didn't approve of giving screen time to her kids. She'd rather her children played outside than spend time glued to mobile, computer or TV screens. Snooki grew up in Upstate New York and she says, "I rode my bike every day. We'd climb trees."
Children today are being bombarded with technology and most of them are spending too much time in front of the screen. Whether it be PlayStations, mobile phones, TV cartoons or Youtube, children seem to be in front of one screen or the other. This is obviously unhealthy in many different ways and is contributing big time to America's obesity epidemic.
8 Snooki Recommends Ignoring Tantrums
Snooki uploaded an Instagram snap that showed her promoting a new dress from her apparel shop while her son was throwing a tantrum on the floor behind her. She even commented, “Sunday funday! Don't mind my tantrum kid in the back.”
According to Scarymommy.com, this got her a backlash of angry comments that Snooki should be paying more attention to her children rather than posting pics. But Snooki made her opinion clear to these judgemental characters that since they weren't in her house seeing what kind of mother she really was, they should stop saying negative things about her.
Any experienced mom will tell you that the best way to deal with tantrums is to ignore the child till they get over it. In her interview with People, Snooki said,
“I literally just walk into the kitchen, ignore them, and then they come over and they say, 'I'm okay now,'”
she shares. “I'm at the stage of parenthood right now where I just need to stop entertaining them. The more you pay attention to that kind of behavior, the worse it gets.
7 Snooki Gives Healthy Rewards, Not Candy
How many times have you bribed your child with candy or ice cream to get them to do what you want? Sometimes, you offer them candy to eat some healthy food first. Snooki advises offering something other than candy as the reward.
As reported by Buzzfeed, Snooki said," We have to bribe Lorenzo because all he wants is candy. So we say - he has a quad, he goes quading (four-wheeling) with his dad, not like crazy but down the road - so we're like,
'Lorenzo if you don't eat your dinner you're not going to go quading with your dad.' So you kind of have to bribe them a little bit."
Snooki tries to instill healthy eating habits in her children and is careful in choosing what foods to make their meals with. She tries her best to avoid junk foods, though an occasional indulgence is considered fine.
6 Snooki's Take On Discipline
“Are you guys against spanking?” Snooki asked the other women in the room with her during a segment of People's Mom Talk series. “Because I grew up with spanks, and it terrified me," she explained.
This doesn't mean Snooki is totally against spanking. She believes mild spanking can be helpful in getting a child's attention. Call a child a few times and if he doesn't respond, a small, but firm tap can surely catch his attention.
"I spank Lorenzo a little, but not like, OWWWW! Just like a 'cut it out' tap. And he likes it, which is weird. He's like, 'Mom!'” Snooki confessed on the Buzzfeed. But she is totally against violence of any sort. Proper communication with children is essential to set them on the right path, rather than yelling at them or getting aggressive.
5 Snooki Teaches Her Kids About Body Positivity
Last year the ETonline reported that Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi is teaching her children an important lesson about motherhood. Snooki had posted shared an Instagram snap in which she reveals to her kids, 4-year-old Lorenzo and 2-year-old Giovanna what those "lines" on her stomach are:
"This morning, my kids asked why I have lines on my stomach. I had to explain to them that it's my tiger stripes I gained when I became their mommy. They thought it was so cool and can't believe how they fit in my belly."
When questioned about her stretch marks, Snooki used the opportunity to teach her children about body positivity. Her children were surely impressed by her "tiger stripes." When moms are unhappy with their bodies, they actually don't realize that they are passing on this insecurity to their young impressionable children.
4 JWoww: The Kids Will Always Come First
Having children is the best way to disrupt your life and all your plans for it. Once you have them, you must learn not only patience but immense flexibility to adapt your plans at the last minute. Your perspective of tidiness, as well as punctuality, take on a new perspective when you have these busybodies who are constantly disrupting your carefully arranged schedules.
JWoww was quick to learn this when she became a mom. She highlights the importance for moms to lose the need to be perfect, punctual, have immaculate homes etc. and choose patience instead. She told the E,
“I was someone that didn't have patience and I was very, almost OCD. You have to have patience [as a mom] and come to the fact that you will never be on time for anything ever again.
Your kids will always come first.”
3 JWoww: About Having Perfect Children
The season two of MTV's Jersey Shore Family Vacation premiered on August 23, 2018. One of the unexpected turns in the episode included JWoww's revelation that her son, Greyson, is in therapy for delayed speech. She said her 2-year-old son has a very limited vocabulary for his age.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, after the episode aired, JWoww took to Instagram to thank fans for their support, and open up further about the struggle to want to have "perfect children" and Greyson's road ahead.
"As a mother, I will go to the moon and back for my kids, no question. I live my life differently because of them. To find out Greyson is 'behind' or 'delayed' crushed me, but only for a moment.
That moment came from wanting to have 'perfect children' and 'how could this happen to me?' But Grey is perfect and it can happen to anyone. I saw that last night when the messages came in by the hundreds." She wrote.
2 JWoww Gives Organic Food To Her Kids
In a Buzzfeed survey, JWoww revealed that she strictly avoids genetically modified foods (GMOs) not just for herself, but also her children.
“We never grew up with that stuff, so our kids are like the test subject for genetically-made food. Meilani is strictly organic all the way. I want to give her a better life than I had because I was like the mac and cheese kid, and soda.
Apparently, I drank [11 sodas] a day at one point as a kid,” she explained. We are all now aware of the dangers of GMO foods. Responsibletechnology.org reveals that serious health risks are associated with GMO foods including infertility, immune problems, accelerated aging, and faulty insulin regulation. Though organic diets may seem like an extreme step for kids, teaching them healthy foods habits from a young age will set them on the course towards a healthier future, rather than raising them on GMOs, candy and sugary sodas.
1 JWoww: The Tanning Expert For Kids
Celebs normally post Instagram or Facebook snaps of themselves expecting positive comments from their fans. But most of the time, they get rewarded with criticism for something they least expected. According to the People, JWoww posted an adorable shot of her 9-week-old son Greyson with her husband Roger Mathews in the pool. Her son looked incredibly cute in his fedora. But rather the enjoy the adorable family picture, the mom came under fire regarding sunscreen use for her baby and whether it was unsafe for her newborn to even be in the pool. Her reply post fired back at commenters:
“Not even sure why I am even doing this but I feel like schooling people on my previous post. First off, my son is two months and in a salt water pool up to his belly. Probably for a total of three minutes.”
As for the sunscreen, she reminds them tartly that she is in the tanning industry and goes to teach them her recipe for natural and homemade sunscreen. "So, here is what I mixed for my son so I know for the 2 minutes he would be safe: Coconut Oil- SPF 4-6, Zinc Oxide SPF 2-20 depending on how much used, Carrot Seed Oil - SPF 35-40. Go enjoy your Sunday now."
