22 Most Iconic Celebrity Wedding Photos Of All Time

Every little girl dreams about her big wedding day. Ever since we were children, we grew up on fantasies about Disney princesses, magic castles, and happily ever afters. There have been weddings throughout history that we can never forget. Not just because there was a prestige about celebrities being the center of it, but there was just something magical about them. Little did these women know that they were going to marry rockstars, princes or the movie stars of their dreams. It probably was just as surreal for them as it was for us watching them get married. Or perhaps they were the famous ones and their prince charming just swept them off of their feet.

From the '50s until now, there have been many notable celebrity wedding images that have stuck out in our minds more so than others. There was something timeless and unforgettable about these enchanted events that we just cannot put our finger on. Perhaps it was the grainy vintage photography, the killer wedding dresses or just the fantastic scenery that really pulled it all together. Though some of the marriages didn't last (and some did), we still have to channel some nostalgia and go back to those good old days.

Here are the 22 most iconic celebrity wedding photos of all time.

22 Lady Diana and Prince Charles: The Fairy Tale Marriage Gone Awry

This wedding was one of the hallmark events of the '80s decade. On July 19th, 1981, Lady Diana Spencer wed Prince Charles of Wales with the puffiest, cupcake wedding dress that barely even fit into the carriage on the ride to the chapel. Though he would later go on to marry his mistress, Camilla Parker Bowles in 2005 long after his late ex-wife's death, these two were still one of the most notable royal couples.

An estimated 750 million people watched the wedding ceremony worldwide to watch the union of the new British monarchy.

There were so many rumors that she was reluctant to not go through with the wedding, but the 18-year-old Diana became one of the most notable women in British history. Her legacy will live on as well as this iconic wedding event.

21 Prince William and Kate Middleton: Living Royal The Fairy Tale Dream

Now, this new generation of the British monarchy has brought a happier story than Princess Diana and Prince Charles. Prince William and Kate Middleton have been the international "it" couple since 2011 when they got married. Their names have been all over the news with their growing family.

No one will ever forget the Alexander McQueen bridal dress, that vintage Rolls Royce in lieu of a carriage or limousine, and how handsome William looked decked out in his uniform.

Not to mention we are nostalgic for the days that Prince Harry was the best man and single (sigh). This wedding was a breath of fresh air because it combined royal tradition with modern times and it kept the romance alive. When we all think of the textbook classic fairy-tale wedding, we have to go back to the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

20 Elvis and Priscilla Presley: She Was 14 When She Met Him

Priscilla Beaulieu (and later Priscilla Presley) met Elvis Presley in 1959 when she was only 14 years old and he was 24. At the time, he was stationed in Germany serving in the US Armed Forces. Once they began a romance, she followed him back to the United States.

Eight years after they met, Priscilla and Elvis were married on May 1st, 1967 at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas.

Their wedding has gone down as one of the most iconic weddings of all time with her glamours big hair and piercing eyes. Though their ceremony was relatively small for a Hollywood couple wedding, there were many members of the press in sight so this was not exactly a private affair. Although their marriage didn't last long as they divorced in 1973, they remained friends, and Priscilla and their daughter, Lisa Marie, inherited Graceland.

19 Kim Kardashian and Kanye West: They Were Friends First

Everyone and their mom is used to seeing the Kardashians everywhere there is a magazine, television or access to the Internet. Although Kim Kardashian has now been through two marriages prior to marrying Kanye West, her third wedding was nothing short of magical. Their scenic location where they decided to tie the knot took place at the Forte di Belvedere in Florence, Italy in May 2014.

Kim wore a Givenchy Haute Couture gown and was escorted down the aisle by her then step-father, Caitlyn (Bruce) Jenner.

In modern fashion, Kim shared some snapshots of her wedding in a carriage ride in Versailles, France a few days prior. The wedding photos look like they are straight from a Vogue photo shoot, and who would really expect anything less? Kanye didn't seem like the commitment type of guy, but it looks like Kim made an honest man out of him.

18 Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier: The Original American Princess

The wedding of Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier of Monaco was considered the "Wedding of the Century" by Vogue, even over sixty years after it took place. Before Princess Diana and Kate Middleton rose to fame, there was the original American princess by the name of Grace Kelly. She wed Prince Rainier of Monaco in 1956 in a highly televised event. MGM made a deal with Grace asking her to film the entire event.

It became so publicized that two events had to be held, one civil and one religious.

The high profile guest list included Conrad Hilton, Cary Grand, and Ava Gardner. Her dress was custom made by Academy Award-winning costume designer Helen Rose and it took approximately 30 seamstresses three weeks to make. After the 26-year-old wed her dashing prince, she became Princess Grace of Monaco.

17 Donald Trump and Melania Knauss: The Future President and First Lady No One Saw Coming

Before everyone was whip-lashed by the astonishing news that Donald Trump became president, he was a high-profile celebrity and television personality. Despite what you might think of him politically, his wedding to Melania Knauss (Trump) was one of the biggest events of the early 00's. Since they have recently celebrated their 13th wedding anniversary, we can look back on that extravaganza.

The Slovenian model wore a couture wedding gown weighing 60 pounds while guests dined on caviar and Cristal champagne "flowed like water."

The event 2005 is still considered to be one of the world's top 10 most extravagant weddings according to Forbes. Melania was in charge of planning everything and she made the wedding-themed after Louis XIV grandeur - gold, glittery and "kind of like jewelry" she told Martha Stewart on her talk show.

Indeed, that was one of the biggest hallmarks of that time with all that extra decadence. Bill and Hilary Clinton even looked friendly pictured with the newly wedded couple. How the times have changed.

16 Jacqueline Bouvier and John F. Kennedy: This Marriage Marked An Era

This wedding is so old school that it is photographed in black and white. The Kennedys are a dynasty of a family whose name went down in history as martyrs of their time. We are often left wondering what might have happened if JFK never got assassinated, but we will never know. 65 years ago, John F. Kennedy was just a guy marrying his dream girl in Newport, Rhode Island. Both he and his wife, Jacqueline Bouvier were both born into well-off and well-connected families in the Upper East Coast.

He was a good-looking senator from Massachusetts and to be the future president of the United States, though that was not known at the time of this wedding.

She was a debutante and they met at a dinner-party in Georgetown. Two years later, he proposed and they were married in a ceremony with over 800 guests including senators, diplomats, and other important people.

15 David and Victoria Beckham: Can't Get More '90s Than This

David and Victoria Beckham got married almost 19 years ago on July 4th, 1999. He was a champion football player for Manchester United in England and she was still part of the Spice Girls. They were Britain's "it" couple and still are to this very day. Their fashion choices and hairstyles couldn't be any more '90s with her big cupcake wedding gown and his blonde, flowing highlights. The spotlight was on the young football star and the young pop star and they have defied the Hollywood standard and are still married to this day.

The ceremony was held at a castle outside of Dublin complete with doves, rose petals on purple carpets, flower girls dressed as angels, a wedding cake with a sword, his-and-her gold thrones and two matching outfits.

Even David Beckham admitted to Vanity Fair in an interview in 2017 that even he thought it was over-the-top.

14 Audrey Hepburn and Mel Ferrer: A Secret Wedding That Hardly Seemed Real

Audrey Hepburn was one of the most iconic actresses of our time. What makes her wedding to Mel Ferrer so unique and dark is that these were photos of a secret wedding that she had on the DL. Actor and director Mel Ferrer had been her first husband from 1954-1968 and she would go on later to marry Italian psychiatrist Andrea Dotti from 1969-1982. Even for a woman of her time, divorce was looked down upon, but Audrey was the type to defy conventional standards.

These photos seem so ethereal because of their simplicity and dark quality to them.

She evidently wanted to hide her own wedding and keep it private. Her Victorian-style dress is to die for and her flower crown is so timeless that it's back in fashion again.

13 Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver: A Marriage That Ended In An Affair

So many people found it ironic that Maria Shriver came from the Kennedy family and married the future Republican governor of California. Though she didn't know that would happen at the time, it didn't stop the two of them from falling in love and getting married in Massachusetts in 1986. Despite the scandal that was heard around the world about Arnold Schwarzenegger having an affair with the nanny and fathering a child, the two decided not to divorce.

Although they have been separated for over six years now, Maria still wears the ring on her finger and it looks like they are trying to patch things back together.

It looks like this marriage has been rocky, but still not breakable. He is the Terminator, after all.

12 Barack and Michelle Obama: A Look Back On Simpler Times

Barack and Michelle's love story is endearing and all-American at its very core. The two met in 1989 when Barack was an associate at a Chicago law firm and Michelle (then Michelle Robinson) was his advisor. When he first asked her out, she turned him down (shocking, we know). He persisted and then from there it was history.

"We clicked right away… by the end of the date, it was over… I was sold," Michelle has said about their first date.

After two years of dating, Barack proposed at a restaurant during a celebration of completing the bar exam. The wedding in 1992 was simple and chic. They got married at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago and then later took off for a honeymoon in California.

11 Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise: The Reign Of Tomkat Didn't Last

Katie Holmes nabbed the hunk that she always wanted. She even confessed to having a crush on Tom Cruise as a little girl. "I think every little girl dreams about [her wedding]," Katie Holmes said in an interview with Seventeen in 2004.

"I used to think I was going to marry Tom Cruise."

As fate had it, her childhood wishes came true. She was his third wife after being married to Nicole Kidman and Mimi Rodgers. Before their wedding took place, she had already given birth to their daughter, Suri Cruise. The luxurious 2006 wedding was held in an Italian 15th-century castle where the bride walked down the aisle in a dazzling Armani bridal gown. It was simple, elegant and not too over-the-top. Unfortunately, Katie and Tom didn't see eye-to-eye in their views on Scientology. Five years after they got married, it ended in a divorce settlement five and a half years later with primary legal custody of Suri granted to Katie.

10 Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt: The Picturesque Modern Family

Though the reign of Brangelina is over and they are settling the finals of their divorce, we can still look back at this modern-day unconventional wedding. After 10 years of being together and six children (adopted and biological) later, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie finally decided to tie the knot at an intimate wedding in 2014 at their private Chateau in France.

What made Angelina's bridal dress so special is that she had her children make drawings and they were designed to be embedded into the wedding gown.

The kids all partook in the wedding ceremony walking their parents down the aisle and standing by as they said their "I dos". Everyone was rooting for this couple as they represented the end of the tradition in progressive times of what it means to be a family. Sadly, just like most Hollywood couples… it just didn't last.

9 Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi: Putting Faces To Marriage Equality

Everyone has to adore the relationship between Ellen Degeneres and Portia de Rossi because they have always seemed so in love and head over heels for each other.

In fact, Ellen gave the sweetest anniversary monologue on her Facebook in August 2017: "Portia and I got married 9 years ago today. Being her wife is the greatest thing I am."

They have since become the most iconic same-gender couple in Hollywood.

Portia, who is known for her roles in Arrested Development and Scandal admitted to Oprah that it was love at first sight when she first met Ellen. "[I knew Ellen was the one] when I first laid eyes on her, but it took me three years to actually tell her how I felt about her because I was on Ally McBeal at the time and I was not living as an openly gay person. I was closeted and very, very afraid that if I talked about being gay, it would be the end of my career, so I wasn't about to date the most famous lesbian in the world."

8 George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin: An Exotic Beauty Snags A Hollywood Silver Fox

George Clooney as one of those serial Hollywood bachelors that many people would have never thought was marriage material. He was always seen running around with some Italian supermodel around his private property in Italy. That all changed the day that he met Amal Alamuddin (now known as Amal Clooney).

They tied the knot at the Aman Canal Grande luxury resort in Venice, Italy.

They wed in September 2016 and Harper's Bazaar labeled it the "Wedding of the Year." Amal is an international lawyer who is renowned for her work in humanitarian efforts. It is always refreshing to see a Hollywood actor go for someone who A) is not a Hollywood "it" girl and B) has already earned her own independent respect for her accomplishments. Amal has since become a fashion icon for career women everywhere.

7 Mick and Bianca Jagger: The Coolest Vintage Wedding Ever

Now, this was a wedding that was way ahead of its time. Mick Jagger married his girlfriend, Bianca Perez-Mora Macias in 1971. He had met the young 25-year-old Nicaraguan born beauty only nine months prior at a Rolling Stones concert in Paris.

Not only was an interracial marriage controversial at the time, but she was also 4 months pregnant at the time of their wedding.

Bianca Jagger gave birth to their daughter, Jade Jagger only five months later.

The wedding almost didn't happen for a few reasons. First, Mick demanded that his bride sign a prenuptial agreement that relinquished her claims to his property if they were to be divorced. Second, was that word had spread that the couple was getting married. This caused over 100 cameramen to show up unannounced at Town Hall. Later in an interview, Bianca admitted, "My marriage ended on my wedding day."

6 Gisele Bundchen and Tom Brady: The "It" Couple, Enough Said.

There weren't too many wedding photos that were released for the wedding of New England Patriot's quarterback Tom Brady and supermodel Gisele Bundchen. Right now, these two are the biggest "it" couple in Hollywood because you just simply can't find a better match than one of the NFL's best players and the world's highest-paid supermodel.

They were so in love, that they got married twice at two different venues.

According to Brides, The gorgeous couple's February 26, 2009 nuptials was all about family. After having been engaged for only a month, the couple tied the knot in an ultra-private 20-person ceremony at the Santa Monica Catholic Church, with immediate family and close friends only. "We planned [the wedding] in like 10 days, and it was perfect," Brady told GQ in 2009 of the Santa Monica ceremony. "We went back to the house and I barbecued aged New York strips. We had champagne, a cake, some ice cream. It was a great night."

A month and a half later, the couple said their "I do"s for a second time, jetting off to Gisele's house in Costa Rica for a tropical, fun-filled weekend in an equally intimate event with only 25 guests.

5 Bill and Hillary Clinton: We Are Not Used To Seeing Them Looking This Young

Recently, Bill and Hillary Clinton celebrated their 43rd wedding anniversary on October 11th, 2017. Now, this is definitely a political power couple that has seen their fair share of ups and downs in their marriage throughout the years. Through questionable affairs, election losses, and other drastic changes, they still seem to withstand the test of time no matter what is put in front of them.

At the Democratic National Convention, Bill described the first time that he met Hillary.

“She had thick blonde hair, big glasses, wore no makeup, and she had a sense of strength and self-possession that I found magnetic,” he reminisced.

She approached him as she noticed him looking at her at the library while they were both studying law at Yale University.

Though she didn't say yes the first few times he proposed, the final time she just couldn't refuse. When Hillary moved back to Arkansas, she was walking with Bill and they noticed a red-brick house they both admired. After a few weeks of travel, she returned back to Arkansas. When she landed at the airport, Bill was there to pick her up and said, "Do you remember that house you liked? Well, I bought it, so now you'd better marry me because I can't live in it by myself." That time, Hillary said yes.

4 Kate Moss and Jamie Hince: Kate Always Does It Chic

Though Kate Moss and Jamie Hince were only married for five years between 2011-2016, you can't deny how adorable their wedding ceremony was with a train of flower girls. The former supermodel married the English guitarist of The Kills on July 1st, 2011 wearing an ethereal John Galliano dress accompanied by her daughter, Lila Grace.

She wore a traditional veil with a large group of little girls wearing flower crowns in true Lana Del Rey fashion.

Though they seemed like such a glowing, happy couple on the day of their wedding, their marriage sadly did not last. There must be something about those musicians that these beautiful ladies just can't seem to trust. Insiders say that one of the contributing factors to their divorce was Kate's jealousy towards his "friendships" with other females. This sounds like a classic case of someone trying to tie town a renegade rocker - it just ain't happening.

3 John Lennon and Yoko Ono: Supposedly, Their Marriage Marked The End Of The Beatles

The relationship between Beatles frontman John Lennon and Yoko Ono has been carefully observed. So many people accuse Yoko as being the cause for the Beatles to break up, but they were an iconic couple nonetheless. They were known to peacefully protest the Vietnam war and were not afraid to speak their mind on many social and political issues. John and Yoko were that hippie couple that marched to the beat of their own drum.

John met Yoko in London at an art gallery in 1966 when he was still married to his first wife, Cynthia.

After she filed for divorce, they were married three years later on March 20th, 1969. John even wrote a song about the plight of their wedding since they had to make a journey across the Southampton ferry because she wasn't English.

In the "The Ballad of John and Yoko", he sings: "Finally made the plane into Paris, honeymooning down by the Seine. [Apple assistant] Peter Brown called to say, you can make it okay; you can get married in Gibraltar near Spain." Once they arrived at the British Consulate in Gibraltar, Spain, they were married in a 10-minute ceremony.

2 Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio: Kept It Simple At City Hall

This was another classic American romance: a marriage between a champion baseball player and a Hollywood movie star. Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio wed in 1954 married at City Hall in San Francisco.

Their marriage was super short since they divorced less than a year later with her accusing him of "mental cruelty."

She then later married writer Arthur Miller in 1956 which also ended in divorce in 1961. This left her emotionally fragile and many suspect that led her to start over-consuming sleeping pills.

Although Marilyn Monroe had been married three times before the age of 36 at her untimely death, Joe DiMaggio still remained in love with her even after their divorce. Rumor has it that he even had flowers delivered to her grave twice a week for two decades. Now that is commitment right there.

1 Celine Dion and René Angélil: An Uncomfortable Age Gap

The love story between Celine Dion and René Angélil is either romantic or creepy depending on which way you look at it. Celine Dion was 13-years-old when she would meet her future husband, René Angélil who was 39-years-old when they first met. Her siblings sent in a tape of her singing to Rene, who was a well-known music manager at the time.

He even mortgaged his house in order to take a gamble on her career as a singer.

It looks like that paid off because they were together ever since making beautiful music and cashing in on the big bucks.

They got married on December 17th, 1994 at a lavish wedding that was highly televised all over Canada. Celine Dion later admitted that her mother did not approve. The event was held at Montreal's Notre-Dame Basilica and the bride had a huge train and a beaded headpiece to match. After having three sons and many beautiful years of marriage, René was diagnosed with throat cancer in 2013 and later passed away in 2016.
