    In a traditional relationship, an individual usually wants to see their partner as much as possible. As the relationship evolves and grows more serious, some couples opt to move in together. But not every relationship follows that route, and some never get there.

    These people include celebrities, who chose not to live with their S/O but instead elected less conventional alternatives: adjoining houses, apartments in the same neighborhood, even houses in different states and countries.

    These decisions are made because it's what the couple felt would work best for them. Some have chosen to stay in a committed relationship but never live under the same roof, among them A-list pair Helena Bonham Carter and director Tim Burton. Others would love to live together but are separated by work commitments or a disagreement of where to settle down.

    Below are 20 A-list couples, both past, and present, who either don't (or didn't) live together out of choice or necessity.

    20 Nico Tortorella And Bethany Meyers Are Married, But Still Don't Live Together

    Another couple that has experienced distance in their relationship is Nico Tortorella and Bethany Meyers.

    The pair got married in 2018 but had been together for 11 years prior, and even after their wedding, admitted that they don't live under the same roof.

    “We still don't live together,” Tortorella told People two months after his wedding. “We see each other on a weekly basis. We're FaceTiming all day, every day.”

    This couple is evidently not together, but before Woody Allen and Soon-Yi Previn became romantically involved, he was dating Mia Farrow (Previn's adoptive mother).

    Looking back on the relationship, one of the more memorable things is how they never chose to live together, but rather lived in separate apartments on either side of New York's Central Park, Stuff reports.

    The Independent also reflected on the relationship, commenting that at the time, this decision was supposed to cement how modern and sophisticated they were as a couple.

    The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Kenya Moore and her husband Marc Daly live in two different states; Moore lives in Atlanta, and Daly lives in New York. According to BravoTV it's their work commitments that keep them apart. The couple has had a long-distance relationship for quite some time, and while Moore has revealed that they have multiple homes, she has also admitted that she may consider relocating to New York. She spoke about this in an interview with The Daily Dish, saying,

    "Well, you know, right now we're managing two households, so a lot of people do it - have multiple residences - so that's what we're doing right now.

    I've always loved New York. I used to live in New York years and years ago. So I've always loved New York."

    17 Helena Bonham Carter And Tim Burton's Unconventional Approach Had Them Living In Adjoining Houses

    Perhaps one of the most famous couples to not live together where Helena Bonham Carter and director Tim Burton. Although the pair announced their decision to split in 2014, after 13 years together, their unusual living situation was successful for over a decade. According to Vanity Fair, Carter and Burton lived in adjoined houses in England.

    In an interview with Red following her breakup, the actress spoke about their houses and commented on how they had actually lived together (although she never specified for how long). She said, “We might be better and still be able to give to each other, but not necessarily live together. Which we did by the way, because everyone seemed to think we didn't, but that was a load of myth.”

    16 Troian Bellisario And Patrick Adams Did 8 Long Years Of Distance

    Troian Bellisario and Patrick Adams married in 2016, and in August of 2018, they even announced that they were expecting their first child, Daily Mail notes. But before their wedding, and their plans to start a family, This Is Insider revealed that the couple lived in two different places; Bellisario in Toronto, Canada, and Adams in Los Angeles, California.

    They did long distance for eight years.  Bellisario spoke about it in an Instagram post dedicated to her husband and their relationship, explaining that in the end, it was all worth it.

    Another couple fluent in the language of long distance is Jamie Chung and Bryan Greenberg, who following their wedding in 2015, found themselves living in two different area codes. According to This Is Insider, Chung lives in Atlanta, while Greenberg was based in New York for work.

    Even while working on their 2015 film, Already Tomorrow in Hong Kong, they lived in two separate apartments.

    The couple claims this really worked for them, with Greenberg explaining his reasoning to Entertainment Tonight, “We enjoy spending time together, but we also enjoy spending time alone."
