20 CW Teen Drama Storylines We're Still Scratching Our Heads Over

The CW has been a part of our lives for many years and it has brought us a lot of amazing shows. The CW arose from the merging of The WB and UPN which were the stations that brought us shows like Buffy The Vampire Slayer. These days it seems to be a collection of superhero dramas whereas before it was more geared towards teen dramas.

It's a network like no other. Sometimes the shows can be melodramatic and cheesy, but it's been a popular network for a while so the formula obviously works. Throughout the years we have watched shows like Buffy, Charmed and The Vampire Diaries. We have loved them even though there have been some serious plot holes. We have seen things that made us scratch our heads and sometimes the series ended without ever answering some of our questions.

Even new shows like Riverdale have left us scratching our heads and begging for some answers. There are weak spots and some unexplained aspects to the show that make us wonder what the writers were thinking.

Check out these 20 CW teen drama storylines that don't make sense.

20 Arrow: Quentin And Black Siren's Relationship

In the early seasons of Arrow, we saw the incredible father-daughter bond between Quentin and Laurel. They had easily one of the best relationships we have seen on the show. The two always had each other's back no matter what. It wasn't surprising to see Quentin change after Laurel died. That was probably why he gravitated towards Black Siren. At first, he thought it was her. The team convinced Quentin that it wasn't Laurel and he seemed to believe it at first. But throughout the season we continue to see him obsess about her and often he'll help her instead of his own team.

19 Supernatural: The Disappearance Of The Antichrist

Anyone who knows anything about the Antichrist knows that it's supposed to be one of the most powerful creatures in existence. Supernatural has its cult following but the show of the same name has had some serious plot holes. We saw the introduction of the Antichrist in Season Five and then oddly enough never saw him again. It turned out that it was a young kid named Jesse Turner who was a child of a woman possessed by a demon. The episode showed that the child was already very powerful so we thought we would have seen him again. It's odd that Dean and Sam would not wonder about the whereabouts of the evil child.

18 Vampire Diaries: Damon's Disappearing Powers

In the pilot episode of The Vampire Diaries, we saw Damon with the ability to create fog and control it in the cemetery. He could also make a bunch of creepy crows appear. Controlling the weather would be a convenient power to have and yet we never saw Damon use these powers again after the episode. It's a little weird especially since it probably would have come in handy throughout the show. It's like the writers used it to draw us in and then changed the character afterwards.

17 The Flash: Cisco Always Fixes Things Just In The Knick Of Time

One of the most successful shows on the CW is The Flash. Fans love the show and one of the favourite characters is Cisco Ramon. He also goes by the name Vibe. He can be awkward at times but he's also funny and smart. When it comes to comic books, the rules don't always fit with reality, especially when it comes to science. The show often has wacky science that fans choose to ignore because they love the show.

One hard-to-believe fact is that Cisco manages to come up with these amazing scientific inventions just in the nick of time, to save the day. We don't buy that he can always come up with the perfect invention just when someone needs it.

16 The 100: It's The Apocalypse But With Perfect Hair

It's the apocalypse so these characters need to simmer down with their Hollywood hair. We would probably imagine the apocalypse filled with women with unmanageable hair and the men would have beards or at least some scruff.

The show, however, is filled with beautiful people with perfect hair. They look like they went to the salon before danger struck.

We will see some of them with scrapes or dirt on them but the hair is always picture-perfect. Where would they even get a curling iron from? The men also rarely have scruff on them.

15 Dawson's Creek: How Clueless Dawson Was About Joey

There's no denying it: Joey Potter was a babe. Dawson's Creek frustrated fans as we had to wait around for Dawson to get a clue. A boy with raging hormones who slept with another girl in the same bed should have got a clue long before he did. Sadly, it wasn't until she put on a fancy dress and makeup that he realized she was so beautiful. It seemed like it wasn't until she fell in love with his best friend Pacey that he saw her as someone he should fight for.

14 Supergirl: Where On Earth Is Superman?

We love the fact that there is a superhero movie with a female lead and we love Kara as a character. Considering that she is linked to Superman, it's “super” weird that she never asks the guy for any help. In Season One, she made it clear that she wanted to find herself and try to be a hero on her own. She's a strong female and fights off villains but sometimes they are too much for her.

If Avengers has taught us anything, it's that sometimes working as a team is important for the greater good.

Kara was almost killed once and that should have been a time when Superman was called in to help.

13 Buffy The Vampire Slayer: The Librarian Giles Hung Out With Teenagers All The Time

Giles was the librarian in the high school and he mainly hung out with the students. There is no way that something like this would fly nowadays because parents are a lot more paranoid about inappropriate relationships between adults and kids. There's no doubt about it, Giles was a great asset to Buffy and always wanted the best for her. The show did introduce adult love interest into his life, but it was definitely weird that he spent so much time with teenagers and it was never once questioned by the school administration.

12 Legends Of Tomorrow: The Heroes Are Always Getting It Wrong

Considering that this is a superhero show, it's amazing how it seems to be the superheroes that are always screwing everything up. Sure, they save the day in the end, but they are the ones that cause most of the problems, to begin with. They call themselves “Legends” but a lot of the members are completely incompetent at their jobs. These things are glossed over by jokes where everyone just laughs off the mistakes but we're not sure how these “Legends” manage to get through the day. It's just unlikely that anyone would expect this group to be heroes.

11 Vampire Diaries: Bonnie Broke The Sleeping Spell With Zero Consequences

In the final season of Vampire Diaries, we never saw Elena because she was in a sleeping spell coma. In reality, the actress Nina Dobrev left the show and producers had to cover it up.

Elena was cursed and her friends were warned that if they found some type of a loophole that would wake Elena up, both she and Bonnie would die. It took Bonnie the whole season to wake her friend up, but when she did it was the most anti-climactic experience the show could have given to fans. Despite the warning, no one died and there weren't even any negative consequences for breaking the spell.

10 Gossip Girls: Rich Girls Are Never Carded

The teens in Gossip Girl were allowed to run pretty wild on the show. Some of the things that they got up to would make most parents cringe. One thing that never made sense about the show was that the characters would often go into a bar underage and never get carded. We understand that rich individuals can often get away with a lot more but that's rarely drinking publicly in a bar. There were times when the bartender would just ignore the fact that there was a 16-year-old Serena sitting there drinking a martini.

9 Charmed: No One Ever Hears From Prue Again

When Shannen Doherty left Charmed, the writers had to do something about her character. They decided to kill her off which is typically what is done when someone leaves the show. We get that they didn't have access to Shannen, but the fact that the sisters never saw Prue again after that didn't make sense.

Throughout the years, we have seen the sisters communicating with ghosts so it would make sense that they could see and talk to their sister Prue whenever they wanted to.

If they had no access to Shannen, then the show should have come up with a better reason as to why they never saw Prue again.

8 Gossip Girl: What Happened To Rufus And Lily's Biological Child?

The introduction of Lily and Rufus's biological son was a little weird. First, they were told that he passed away in a sailing accident. In reality, he was alive and well and living right in their life. He had weaseled his way into Dan's group of friends, pretending to be someone else. When it was finally revealed that he was their son, they tracked him down at the bus stop. There were apologies, hugs and promises for the future. Then we never saw him again. It's weird that we wouldn't see their son pop up again before the series ended.

7 Riverdale: How Any Of The Adults Managed To Have Normal Kids

If you are a fan of Riverdale, then you probably have gotten pretty familiar with the parents of Riverdale by now. They are all problematic, every single one of them, and it's a wonder that any of them managed to have children that grew up to be normal. All the parents seem to be involved in unethical business, never mind the fact that Betty's father turned out to be a serial killer. None of them seem to have a moral bone in their body and that's why we have seen Hermione Lodge forging her daughter's signature, Sierra McCoy pressuring her daughter to succeed and FP Jones welcoming his own son into the gang.

6 Arrow: He Never Asks For Flash's Help

We've always seen a situation where a superhero needed some help at one time or another. The same goes for Arrow and yet we never see him ask for Flash's help. Flash is easily one of Arrow's biggest allies and yet he rarely asks him for any help. We've seen some crossover on the show but sometimes it seems like Arrow feels he doesn't need Flash. Could you imagine how helpful it would be to have someone on your team with superspeed? It goes both ways, though: Flash rarely asks for help from Arrow either.

5 Buffy The Vampire Slayer: She Only Slays In One Place

"Into every generation, a slayer is born: one girl in all the world, a chosen one.” We're not sure why only one girl was born to slay the world, but Buffy rarely leaves her hometown so there's a whole lot of world that's not getting any help. It wouldn't really make sense for the Chosen One to remain in one place. Much like Blade, who had to travel the world fighting vampires, it would make sense that Buffy would have to do the same. But for a while, she didn't even have her driver's license so that made traveling problematic.

4 Gossip Girl: Chuck and Nate Rode The City Bus

We saw Nate and Chuck on a city bus in the pilot episode which was laughable. It was when we were introduced to Dan Humphrey who was definitely not on the same level as the other boys. We have seen Chuck ride in a limousine to school for the entire season because his father is a billionaire so it made no sense that he or Nate should be on the bus. The show didn't bother to explain why the boys were on the city bus.

3 Charmed: The Sisters Used Their Powers For Personal Gain

If you had magical powers, would you use it for your own good? We all probably would. But the rule is that if you are a good witch, then you cannot use your magic for your own gain. There are consequences if one cannot resist the temptation. We have seen the sisters punished over the years for trying to use the magic for their own gain. But then we have also seen times when a sister used her magic for personal gain and was not punished.

2 Supergirl: Supergirl Let The DEO Know About Her Secret Identity

Considering Kara looks exactly like Supergirl, she does a convincing job of hiding her identity. She even hides it from the DEO for a period of time. After she started working for the DEO, there was a time when she stopped hiding her identity from them. That was a pretty risky move on her part. Sure, the DEO is a secret government agency but that doesn't mean that she should leave herself exposed to them. The organization has been infiltrated before and if someone were to discover who she was, that could put her life -  as well as many other lives -  in danger. It's careless for someone who should know by now how important it is to keep her identity secret.

1 Riverdale: How FP Knew To Set Up A Camera To Film Clifford Blossom

We finally saw what happened to Jason Blossom in Riverdale and it was all thanks to a videotape that revealed his killer. We have to wonder how FP knew to have a camera in just the right spot to capture it all. Should we assume that he had more going on behind the scene that would implicate him in other murders? We could say that FP was just using it as a security measure and he just got lucky by having it film what happened to Blossom. We never got an answer, though.
