10 'The Bachelor' Couples That Are Still Going Strong-And 10 That Didn't Last Very Long

Parents and grandparents often have the perfect love stories for how they first met. Usually it involves a chance meeting and walking hundreds of miles to see each other. It's the kind of stuff that makes for a good romance movie. But even better than a movie where the characters are fictional is watching real-life relationships play out on TV. Over the years, audiences have tuned in to The Bachelor and The Bachelorette to witness couples fall in (and out) of love.

While The Bachelor and The Bachelorette shows are perfect opportunities to meet potential romantic partners, it's not a guarantee for finding love. In some cases, however, the couples stood the test of time. Some couples have lasted, some haven't. Either way, the jury is still out about whether it's a tried and true method.

Some of the couples surprised us, making us think they would always stay together forever. For other couples, as time passed, we were pleasantly surprised by how long they stayed together. Here is our ultimate list of 10 Bachelor and Bachelorette couples who've weathered the relationship storms, along with 10 who haven't. Trust us, the couples on this list are here for the right reasons.

20 Going Strong: Rachel Lindsay & Bryan Abasolo Are Blazing Trails

Not only did Rachel Lindsay blaze trails as the first black lead of all time on the show, but now she's doing it in love too. According to People, she doesn't have any regrets about choosing Bryan Abasolo over Peter Kraus-the runner-up from The Bachelorette season 13. Rachel thinks Bryan is the perfect guy for her, which supports a case for their strong relationship today.

Although the couple is still figuring out where they want to live together, what matters most is that they're working through it.

They want to make their relationship last, after all. Right now, the couple plans on taking things to the next level with a wedding on the horizon. While there's no specific date announced yet, they hope to tie the knot sometime early next year.

19 So Long: Juan Pablo Galavis & Nikki Ferrell Lasted 2 Years

Regrettably, The Bachelor is not a tried and true method. Juan Pablo Galavis and Nikki Ferrell's relationship only supports that case. Galavis, known for his dreamy eyes and attractive accent, didn't have the best tenure as the Bachelor.

Although he picked Ferrell at the end of season 18, the two didn't last for very long after. Less than two years after the show, Galavis dated Venezuelan model Osmariel Villalobos (who he's married to now). Although fans don't think too highly of Galavis, according to People Magazine, he thinks Arie Luyendyk Jr. just took his slot as the most disliked Bachelor ever. Ferrell has since moved on and married Tyler VanLoo. Even though this couple didn't pan out in the end, at least they both went their ways separately in peace.

18 Going Strong: Desiree Hartsock & Chris Siegfried Are Defying The Odds

Bachelorette fans remember Desiree Hartsock's ninth season and can't believe her relationship with Chris Siegfried is still going strong. It's not like we didn't want them together. We just didn't think they'd live happily ever after. For those who don't know, Siegfried wasn't Hartsock's number one choice.

Initially, it looked like her heart went to Brooks Forester, except he suddenly left the show.

She ended up with Siegfried after a rocky season, but the couple has been lighting it up ever since. People Magazine confirmed the couple eventually tied the knot back in 2015. They even have a boy together. It just goes to show that the Bachelorette model can work for some. While many fans thought Desiree wasn't picking the guy of her dreams, love has a mysterious way of working sometimes.

17 So Long: Nick Viall & Vanessa Grimaldi's Love Went Down

It's been a long road for Nick Viall. After two heartbreaks on two seasons of The Bachelorette, the star finally got a season of his own as the Bachelor. That season finale found Viall and Vanessa Grimaldi engaged. But in an exclusive report by E! News, the couple shared they'd be going separate ways only five months after the finale.

Meanwhile, Viall appears cursed in finding the one.

We have hope he'll find her someday though. We just don't know if the Bachelor model is best for him. While the couple didn't last long, they at least look to have ended on amicable terms. In a joint statement to E! News, they admitted splitting with “love and admiration for each other.” It's too bad this couple didn't make it work out in the end.

16 Going Strong: Trista Rehn & Ryan Sutter Are The Show's Veteran Couple

If there's an ideal outcome hoped for by couples after The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, Trista Rehn and Ryan Sutter are certainly the pinnacles. What makes their story so incredible is how early on it happened. The very first Bachelorette was a major success.

In a marriage ceremony that aired on TV, Rehn and Sutter made history declaring their commitment to the world. They've been together ever since.

People Magazine even reports they have two kids together-a boy and a girl. Not only is it a major milestone for any Bachelorette couple to stay together after the show is over, but to do so for such a long time is a big feat. They've really set the bar high for all couples going forward.

15 So Long: Andi Dorfman & Josh Murray Go Their Separate Ways

After Andi Dorfman left Juan Pablo's season of The Bachelor, she got to be the Bachelorette herself. That's when she met Josh Murray, a muscular minor leaguer baseball player. They hit it off from the start. Ultimately, it led to their engagement at the end of the season.

According to E! News though, the couple split fewer than six months after the show aired. We're glad the couple ended on good terms though.

They probably bump into each other a lot as fellow Bachelorette alums. As a result, we think Murray will be able to return to his true love now: pizza. It was a long-running joke throughout his appearance on Bachelor in Paradise since he ate pizza in an enthusiastic manner. Bachelor in Paradise always shows us the best of people.

14 Going Strong: Jason Mesnick & Molly Malaney Prove Second Time's A Charm

Season 13 of The Bachelor was a little bit of a whirlwind. For those who aren't in the know, Jason Mesnick initially proposed to Melissa Rycroft. Similar to Arie's recent situation on season 22 of The Bachelor, he had second thoughts. He ended up breaking up with Rycroft and going with Molly Malaney, the show's runner-up.

People Magazine reports the couple married back in 2010. Even more, they're still happily together and have a daughter together.

On the other hand, we're happy to report Rycroft isn't doing so bad herself. She married Tye Strickland back in 2009 and had three children. While we all judged Mesnick for his blunder at the time, it looks like everything worked out for the best for all involved. We can only hope the same happens for Arie's situation.

13 So Long: Ben Higgins & Lauren Bushnell Go Their Own Ways

It's hard to believe this couple didn't get the fairytale ending everyone believed they would. Like many contestants, Ben Higgins' heart broke first before he became the Bachelor himself. It had happened on Kaitlyn Bristowe's season. That's when he met Bushnell.

The two hit it off and got engaged at the end of the season. But as reported by People Magazine, they decided in May 2017 to go their separate ways. Their split on the surface appears mutual.

Though according to E! News, an insider claims that Higgins would have liked to keep wanting to make things work.

It's really too bad they weren't able to overcome their differences. The couple had even started on their own Freeform show together called Ben & Lauren: Happily Ever After?

12 Going Strong: Kaitlyn Bristowe & Shawn Booth Are A Match Made In Heaven

These two really hit it off since the get-go. As reported by Us Magazine, if their recent photos on Instagram are any indication, Kailyn Bristowe, and Shawn Booth are still hot and heavy for each other. They both even posed topless for Christmas out of their New York apartment together. If that's not a sign things are still hot and steamy, we don't know what is.

Following the season 11 finale, Booth proposed to Bristowe. Bachelor fans love this couple, even though they haven't tied the knot yet. People reports how that Booth and Bristowe feel "pumped" about having a family (as if we needed any more convincing they weren't serious enough). This couple has us rooting for their love and happiness. We think they'll go down in Bachelor Nation's history books of legendary couples.

11 So Long: Chris Soules & Whitney Bischoff Are Broken-Hearted

It didn't take long for Soules and Bischoff to fall in love with each other. Nor did it take long for them to break apart either. After being engaged only two months following Soules' Bachelor season, the couple announced they'd be parting ways. The good news is they're still friends. People reports that Whitney moved on and met someone else through a dating app.

As a result, Whitney Bischoff got married and didn't let her history with Soules cast a shadow over her future.

How has Chris fared since the breakup? The former Bachelor star was involved in a fatal accident with a tractor driver as reported by Us Magazine. As a result, Soules was arrested after law enforcement claimed he left the scene of the accident. Let's hope things get better for Soules.

10 Going Strong: Jojo Fletcher & Jordan Rodgers' Relationship Is A Hail Mary

Jojo Fletcher's season of The Bachelorette had lots of highs and lows. There were plenty of laughs and fun, while also pain and drama. But the season certainly ended on a high when Rodgers proposed to Fletcher in a huge season finale.

While E! Online reports the months after the proposal were tough for these two, they were able to weather the storms. Apparently, there were lots of negative rumors in tabloids about their relationship throughout the show. While difficulties sometimes lead to the collapse of a relationship, it's only helped strength Fletcher and Rodgers's. According to E! Online, the once NFL star Rodgers is even moving to Dallas to live with Jojo. Even when the odds stack up against a relationship, love always finds a way.

9 So Long: Arie Luyendyk Jr. & Becca Kufrin Say Goodbye

Is it too soon to put these two on the list? A relationship that played with our emotions, Arie Luyendyk Jr. and Becca Kufrin seemed like a sure-fire romance. Except Arie changed his mind after choosing Kufrin. Even more, Arie dumped her and the cameras captured every painstaking minute.

We got to witness love and heartbreak back-to-back. But Becca is the next Bachelorette, so hopefully, she'll find the man of her dreams this season.

Although Arie did a horrible thing to Becca, People Magazine got the scoop from Becca, and she doesn't think he's a “monster.” She doesn't think he was trying to hurt her, and that's reasonable. While Becca certainly isn't the winner in all this, it should help moving on knowing that Arie didn't do it purposefully.

8 Going Strong: Tanner Tolbert & Jade Roper Are Birds Of A Feather

These two love birds found each other in paradise-Bachelor in Paradise to be exact. A fan favorite couple over the years, Tanner Tolbert and Jade Roper tied the knot just a few months after their engagement. They even had their wedding televised on ABC. Even more, they already have a girl together.

In an exclusive interview with E! News, the couple shared the arrival of their baby girl and had no words to describe what it felt like. We're just as speechless wrapping our heads around this romance. Although Bachelor in Paradise's reputation is more for hooking up than finding love, there's been some long-lasting couples to make it out. We love and support this couple and can't wait to see what the future holds.

7 So Long: Brad Womack & Emily Maynard Are Never Ever Getting Back Together

Back when Emily Maynard was the Bachelorette, she found the love of her life. At least she thought she had. In fact, Arie Luyendyk Jr. had been on that season trying to win her heart. We all know the story of where Arie went from there. But Maynard ended up falling for Brad Womack.

The season ended with the usual proposal, and their engagement looked as if everything was going to work out. Why should we expect any other outcome than a happy ending?

According to E! Online though, it only took three months before they called it quits.

While the couple supposedly moved on mutually, they both started seeing other people after the break-up. Whatever the reason was for these two skipping the altar, we just hope they find happiness apart.

6 Going Strong: Evan Bass & Carly Waddell Find Love After a Rocky Start

Evan Bass and Carly Waddell didn't have the best go of it in the beginning. They were on the third season of "Bachelor in Paradise" together, except they didn't really hit it off. Bass kept making advances, but Waddall wasn't buying it. Eventually though, Bass broke through. In turn, Waddell reciprocated the same feelings Bass had had all along.

Waddell's sudden affection was a pleasant surprise for Bachelor fans to witness, as the couple now seems meant for each other. Happily married, the couple is living in Nashville, according to E! News. They even had a TV wedding, which is becoming a staple for success stories on ABC's relationship shows. Now, E! News reports the couple has a daughter together. We still can't believe this couple went from being bankrupt to bliss.

5 So Long: Andrew Firestone & Jen Schefft Fizzled Out

Andrew Firestone was the third Bachelor and another victim of a failed romance. Just because a season ends with a marriage proposal, it doesn't mean they'll both live happily ever after.

Jen Schefft was the girl he chose, and the two looked happy together. But alas, such things are not meant to last. Plus, they always say to never judge a book by its cover.

Instead, they broke up about seven months after the show. They both moved on, with Firestone marrying someone else in 2008.

According to E! Online, he and his wife, Ivana Bozilovic had a son in 2014. On the other hand, Scheff went on to marry Joe Waterman, who she has two children with. While the relationship between these two didn't survive, they were able to find love and happiness elsewhere.

4 Going Strong: Sean Lowe & Catherine Giudici Are Head-Over-Heels

Who doesn't love this couple? After Emily Maynard broke Sean Lowe's heart, he went on to become The Bachelor in his own season. Eventually, it led him to a proposal in the finale of his season to Giudici. They even had the wedding televised on ABC. Lowe and Giudici have been a couple that really set themselves apart from others. They even made the decision to wait before getting physical until their wedding night, according to Time Magazine.

In a show where the fantasy suite exists, it certainly takes self-control to wait it out. People reported the couple had their honeymoon in Tahiti, so the wait was worth it. Sharing in their happily ever after is their son, Samuel. As per People, we're also happy to hear they're going to expand their family with another baby on the way!

3 So Long: Alex Michel & Amanda Marsh Call It Quits

Michel was the very first Bachelor ever. In a way, it was different from what fans have come to expect. It actually didn't end with Michel putting a ring on it. He picked Marsh, but both made the decision to see how things pan out without the pressure and commitment of marriage yet.Unfortunately, it only took a few months before they ended the relationship.

It's a good thing this failed relationship that ended so quickly, didn't discourage future seasons from moving forward.

Granted, that's a lot of pressure. It's better Michel and Marsh didn't force anything just because they were the first. Still, it's a lesson that just because something (like The Bachelor in this instance) doesn't start off perfectly that it's not destined for greatness.

2 Going Strong: Ashley Hebert & J.P. Rosenbaum Are Lovey-Dovey

Ashley Hebert was the Bachelorette, and J.P. Rosenbaum knelt down on a knee with a ring at the end of her season. ABC is happy to televise the weddings, and theirs was no exception back in 2012.

They've been living out their 'happily ever after' since then. The couple even welcomed a baby into the world in 2014 and another in 2016.

They are certainly on a roll, even though their relationship has gone through shake-ups according to Us Magazine, after starring in a season of Marriage Boot Camp last year. Even Hebert admitted to only wanting sex with Rosenbaum “once a month.” Ouch. While that seems bleak, honesty is always the gateway to a working relationship. We know this couple has what it takes to make it.

1 So Long: Travis Stork & Sarah Stone Didn't Realize It Would Be This Hard

We're happy to admit that we saved the best for last. Travis Stork and Sarah Stone may have fallen in love on the show, but it didn't last beyond long after that. Once some couples remove themselves from that context, reality sets in. Before the last episode even aired, they had already called it off. What went wrong exactly?

According to Reality TV World, Stork mentioned the distance apart from each other while the show was wrapping up as the reason. As Bachelor fans know, the producers require the Bachelor and his gal to stay apart while the show is finishing so as not to spoil it for the general public. Apparently, it was too much to bear for the couple, and their relationship suffered as a result.
